(sold)This gentle kirin is a rare creature from Japanese mythology, said to bring peace and serenity to all who see her.
Leif loves watching water. She likes to see rivers running around pebbles, waves crashing on rocks but her favourite is watching gentle raindrops in puddles. She is quiet and thoughtful, always optimistic and a bit of a philosopher.
Leif measures approximately 8β tall from heels to antler-tip.
She is weighted with steel-shot and stuffed with polyester
Her body is machine sewn from cuddlesoft fur and her ruff and tail are 100% polyester fake fur.
Her head is cast resin from an original sculpt, as are her antlers, paws and feet.
She has wire in her tail meaning it can be gently repositioned.

Where do you get your furs from? I only know mohair-bear which can become rather expensive on shipping sadly u.u

mohairbearmakingsupplies.co.uk is where I get most of the long fake fur, or locally. Leif's fur is actually from a coat I bought in a sale in Primark years ago. And the shorter stuff is from plushaddict.co.uk (if you look under cuddlesoft or smooth by shannon)

I use a silicone tipped sculpting tool shaped like a wedge and just drag it about so it looks like fur haha

Not only do you do such amazing sculpting, how do you get such perfect pours?! I'm terrified to try and cast anything that details because half my pours are flubs.Β
But seriously, that sweet little face is wonderful...she's adorable.

I degas the resin before I pour even though it isn't really necessary, the stuff i use has a viscosity of 50cp. Talcum powder reduces surface tension too, I also only fill a third then rotate and tamp the mould to try and dislodge little bubbles, then finish filling really slowly. If there only a couple of bubbles they get filled and sanded, pinhead bubbles often get hidden with the primer coat of paint. Resin is so cheap though I don't worry if I miscast something, just gets chucked and I cast another. It works out at something like 0.0061p per gram so... I don't worry about it.

Could be! It's tough balancing pour rate with pot life though, I have three minutes to work with the rencast before it kicks and if I have a lot of moulds to fill it can set in the cup!Β thin steady stream from a height (bombs away method) usually manages to get rid of most trapped air bubbles, but big bubbles in details is usually a mould construction problem.Β
