Description ok, perhaps this should go under painting instead, but that doesn't seem right either.

I can't take credit for sculpting this - I bought the white ceramic dragon on eBay. But I finally got around to painting it yesterday and touching up today - it's a business card holder (the card is supposed to rest in the little rectangular area in front of the windows).

It was a relatively simple paint job (I had to buy detail brushes to fix a few details today, but still), but I'm proud of it. It's looks the way I want it to, and I haven't really picked up a paintbrush in a few years - not since the "Give Me Back My Money" pics in 2005, in fact. I'm still a little torn - I had planned to leave the eye pure silver - but there's a little indentation for the iris, so I felt it ought to be a different color. Maybe I'll change my mind sometime and change it back.

It was fun. Anyway, it is art, and I hadn't uploaded anything in a good long while (haven't done much art in a good long while, in fact, so I thought I'd put it up. Hopefully, I'll get a better picture at some point. This one was taken on my phone, and the lighting isn't great - for instance, it's hard to see that the wings are actually teal with green edging.

Acrylic paints.

Thanks!

just acrylic - metallic for the dragon and the windows, plain gray for everything else.

The mug is courtesy of my dad.

Argh, I'm so late at replying to things!

Last time I went to Michaels (it's been a while), they had all the same types of paint and stuff that Hobby Lobby does. So, my guess is, they probably do have it. It's the basic Folkart/Anita's paints.....something. Can't remember the exact brand now. But they're all together (I love Folkart, but I used the cheap paint for this project. )

Hope that helps!

Yep!! i was at Michaels last week and remembered this conversation except for the "metallic" part! lol
i bought three different paints.. two were some kind of ...clear glaze with glitter in it. i bought a green bottle and gold bottle and then i saw a bottle of the metallic blue and bought it just to try..
as it turned out the metallic was what i needed :/
so now i've got two glittery type paints i have absolutely no use for except for ..... extra sparkle... otherwise they're useless and the glitter just gets pushed around or lumped up in one area lol good thing i was smart enough to use a base coat of paint!!

at least one of my dragons wasnt a total flop though lol
