Description The prompt was neon! So I jumped in there with some nice abyssal glowing shark (Lantern shark) for Ace, and an oarfish for Fleur. Tight eely hugs :'> Finally, Past and Present, Ace's shadow wolves, they're now frilled sharks. Because they look spooky as heck.

I really like drawing this girls so happy 😭 And those are their 3 year later versions!

Oh man I missed this one and just saw it while clearing my notifications. These look so nice, so neon. I love the glowing on their fins!

Hi im from

Your piece definitely draws attention to it, i believe it's because of the strong contrast between the background and characters (and also my love for solid neon colored backgrounds). First thing that bothered me is the white outline around charactes and that white border, it seems quite unnecessary, I would completely remove the white border or make it transparent. Now that we got this talked about, let's just admire how good this piece is. I love the characters - their design is something very fresh and pleasant to look at. Their pose and how the tails are wrapping around each other is looking amazing. Whole piece seems smooth, style consistent and I don't see any issues with anatomy, one thing is Ace's hand, it just doesn't seem like she's holding Fleur, but more like it's just about to.Β

At first look I thought those are male, then I started thinking about how each of those could be different gender, and without reading the desc I wouldn't prolly decide what they look like to me. They both seem to have masculine and feminine features, and if that's the intention - then great job, if not - I would try and soften up the chins and jaw a little bit (for both). None the less I adore how they both look. I also might be falling in love with AceΒ Β

Overall - great piece, love everything about it.
Well done! <3

hey there!! I'm sorry for taking so long to answer, it was... life :'v

I was keeping that white line because it was sort of a constant between the mermay pieces but dang I really do agree with you. I should do something about it and value the contrast that's already there.Β

Ace is between being about too and just being sort of hesitant! She tries not to make her touches to heavy and sometimes doesn't find a good middleground. But I can work that better, thank you!!

and yeah Ace is supposed not to look super standart female characteristics, but although I liked how Fleur looked at first, sort of more stylish than my usual lines, now it bugs me that she's too squarish. Something to keep an eye out for!!

also:Β Β I also might be falling in love with AceΒ  Β GAAASPΒ  Β this makes me very happy HAHAHAH

thank you, mate!!! Have a great day!!Β Β

Hello

What first grabbed my attention about this piece was obviously the colours! The subdued blues work really well with that hot pink The pose got my attention too, drawing two characters interacting is always more difficult and more interesting than just drawing a single character. I also did not regret clicking on it - what a lovely selection of unusual fish!

I'll start with the fish. At first glance I thought Fleur was a moray, mostly because of how pronounced the lateral lines are, and perhaps also because of the patchy base colour, which makes the body look less smooth. I love how you incorporated other distinct oarfish features though, like the rays/spines/"antannae" or what you'd call them and the long dorsal fin running along the entire body. I think showing the point where the ventral spines attach could help a little with clarity.
For Ace, I have to say I'm a little confused about the tail's pose. The tail fin looks upside down, unless the body twists around by 180Β° somewhere, but I don't see that? I think the next fin, left in the picture, is the anal fin, in which case we should se part of the second one behind it. For the fin opposite it, from what I've seen the spine should be in front of it rather than on the back. But I'll say lantern shark fins are confusing and weirdly shaped, so props to you for trying especially in such a complicated pose!
I also love how the bioluminescence illuminates the two mermaids. There's a few areas that could be improved, like Ace's pectoral fin which isn't illuminated while Fleur's body next to it is. But otherwise it's really well done, I especially like the lighting contrast where Fleur curves around Ace's fin!
The frilled sharks look amazing, I immediately recognized them! I was only confused for a moment about whether they were actually two or one two-headed one, because of how the heads and tails are arranged. Their bodies somehow seem to occupy the same space. Shading could really help here with establishing some depth between the two, but clearly shading was not an intended part of the image, so I'd suggest posing them a touch farther apart. I think a part of one of their bodies should also show in the gap between Fleur and Ace. I do love how you did their gills and mouths though So true to life.

Moving on to the human parts. First, I really like that you used different shades for the skin, even in this monochromatic piece! It really makes it seem a lot more natural. (Must remember this for my own drawings!)
I have to admit though, at first glance I thought they were guys. If you intended for them to look masculine, you're good of course! Otherwise I'd suggest making their jaws a bit rounder/softer (I mean at the edge of the face mostly, not necessarily the chin ), and perhaps the eyebrows a bit thinner. Making their hands bit slimmer would make them more feminine too. Those are just suggestions though, you know best what look you want for your characters!
I really love how they are looking deeply into each other's eyes (not always easy to draw!), and the expressions. Fleur's pose looks great too, the way she's gently placing a hand on Ace's neck and face is really showing a lot of intimacy. The pose of her second arm is also delightfully clear in spite of how little we actually see of it - it's easy to picture her left hand resting on Ace's shoulder.
Ace's pose looks a bit oddly hesitant though, in contrast to Fleur's intimate gesture and how closely their tails are intertwined. I'd sort of expect to see her hand on Fleur's back pulling her closer or something like that. Again, something that's probably due to not having shading, but it's not even entirely clear if her hands are touching Fleur at all. Lastly, the moon markings/tattoos kind of look a bit sticker-y; they don't seem to interact with the scars(?) or really follow the shape of the muscles. I really like how you did Ace's well-defined muscles though, especially in contrast to Fleur's softer body! It can be hard to find a balance of how clearly to outline them without making them look tacked on and you did it perfectly.

I hope some of this was helpful! Best of luck on your future ventures

second:Β
just about Ace's hand, yeah she's hesitant! she's a little confusing with intimacy and love but she's trying!

third; dang my dude!! this is really insightfull and helpful and has a level of detailing that I'll try to pay attention to with my next works! thank you so much for taking time for this!Β

Cheers!
