Description "It is vain to look for present aid: none is at hand.
We must now act or abandon all hope!
Rally to the standard, and be no longer the scoff of mercenary tongues!
Be men, be free men, that your children may bless their father's name."

- Sam Houston on the eve of the Battle of San Jacinto

Every year thousands of reenactors gather to take part in the reenactment of the Battle of San Jacinto.
The decisive battle for Texas' liberty from Mexico.
Sam Houston and the Texian Army defeated Gen. Lopez de Santa Anna's Mexican Army.
An estimated 630 Mexican soldiers were killed and 730 captured.
This little gem is of the Texian Army reenactors' camp.

This years San Jacinto Day Festival is fast approaching. It will be held on April the 18th.

I love the B&W, gives it the rustic historic feel

Thank you very much for your comment. I thought it did as well.
I prefer B&W over color as you can probably see from my gallery lol.
Thanks again for the comment I appreciate more than I can say.

This is a nice photo although, I think this photo is better served in colour.

I only shot in black and white that day.
If I had a color photograph worth sharing believe me it would be up here. This was my favorite shot of the day.
Thank you for the compliment. ^~^

I see. I am curious, what kind of camera are you using?

I currently switch up between two. My Nikon Coolpix P530 (Used to go with the P510 but it died on me) and My Sony Cybershot. Although I do prefer my Nikons ten fold.

I see, a good camera gives you the freedom to do so many things.

It helps a lot to know your camera, regardless if it's fancy equipment or a beginner camera like mine.
I'd say most of the time, I rely greatly in knowing the settings of my equipment more than anything.
I used to own small hand held digital cameras and it was the same thing. As long as you know and are familiar with the settings and everything your camera is capable or best of/at you are set my friend.

That is true. I have done some decent stuff with my phone. Knowing to what extent you can push your machine is crucial to know the kind of photos you can take. My previous profile here consisted of mobile photography and what I understand is that you are limited greatly unless you are carrying a good camera.
