First fan art for a Marvel character, wohoo~!
Klara Prast from the Runaways! If you still haven't read two first series of this comic, then you have to do it now. Like, RIGHT NOW. I just can't say how great they are. You'll love the characters, just as I love all of them. Ah, and watch out, there'll be a spoiler in the next paragraph.
Yes, I even like Klara. I mean, I liked her in the Whedon arc. I wasn't ecstatic about her joining the team but it didn't really iritate me or anything.
What did iritate me was how awfully bad the third volume was. Not only the script was stupid (at the best), but also the art... Arghh, I definitely didn't enjoy it. I was particularly upset about how the new artists just... ignored how Klara looked when first introduced. Was it that hard to remember she has a little droopy eyes and chubby cheeks? It wasn't because she was sad, this is just how her features were, dammit!
...But why did I ever expected artists who i.a. draw Xavin with an afro to remember how Klara looked like, I don't even know. :/
So, I wondered if I could draw her more true to the original design. Please tell me if I did, 'cause I'm really curious about it. C:

I really like this. The peasant girl look just works for Klara Prast on so many levels. It is interesting that although she is smiling, she has seen a lot of pain in her own life, and you show that pain well.

Ahhhhhhhhh, Klaraaaa~! She looks great here, and very in character, I feel. I'm really hoping they continue with Runaways and let Klara come into her own, because she has so much potential~ <3
I agree though, the artist for vol3 wasn't so great, and I didn't really like the author, either. The art was just too stylistic to the point of being inconsistent though, ugh... >>;
Personally though, I'm liking where the Runaways series is going now! I think Immonen and Pichelli make a good team, and I actually really liked their art, ahahaha~ : D

She does have potential, I agree. But the new writers turned her into some random girl with no specific character, where she should be lost and afraid of the new world. I think it would be actually hard to write a character with such history, since no one can imagine what someone could feel in her situation. But they didn't even try.
Plus what I loved about the series most where the emotional relationships. So developed! Mlly, for example, has kinda sister-brother relationship with Chase, Victor and even Xavin, but they all interact specific with her! And Klara... we don't see who she likes and who she doesn't. Only her friendship with Molly, written by previous scripter, survives and is interesting. Grkjrjrkr. :/
I like the art in the last issues in general, but the artist forgets about specific features again. They all seem so generic. It's Alphona's fault, he did such great job at individualizing characters.

Ahahaha, no problem at all; I love getting to discuss the things I love, too. Sorry for the late reply, I'm abominable at keeping up with things~ 9v9;;
But yeah, I loved the characterization so much! I'm really not too big on superhero comics, but the Runaways are that perfect combination of everything I love with superheroes thrown in, so it was brilliant~ <3
Still, I like where immonen took the story; Klara's fears of things she doesn't understand seems totally reasonable, and her inability to control that fits her, well, "age" in a sense. I do hope to see her warm up though and contribute more to the team; she's gotten to use her powers so little so far!
I just REALLY hope they pick up from their hiatus again and continue with Runaways! They left us on such a cliffhanger, oh gosh~
And did you hear the news of the Runaways movie???

Yeah, of course I've heard of it, but I'm afraid that the plot is too complex for one movie. But there's hope that they'll start to make new issues of comic because of the movie hype.
You're right about Immonen's take of Klara's fears, but it was still incredibly stupid (at least for me) to kill off Old Lace. It just made no sense at all. Well ok, maybe it gave us the "So is Chase dead or not?"-cliffhanger, but we all know that they used this one twice. What kind of a cliffhanger is used twice and with the very same person? This and the way they rid off of Xavin. I could maybe-if forced-someday-etc say it was ok, if not for the fact that almost the same thing was done in Young Avengers. Talk about a creative team.

Ahahahaha, yeah, true. They're kind of pushing it sometimes with all the team change-ups, though personally I love depressing things so the sadness always kinda inherent with the runaways makes me love them even more xD
But yeah, they better reveal who they're going to "bring back to life" if they're going to kill so many people left and right!!
