first off, these are badass
second, I'm guessing since half of them are neoprene rings that this has some stretch to it? if so, how well do they stay on?

Very well made! And they probably took a while, too, huh? But the result is worth the effort!

These are the best chain mail bracers ive ever seen. I'm looking to make some leather gauntlets backed with chain mail and i want to use this weave. could u post a tutorial on your website. If time is an issue I'd be happy to pay for it. You used 2500 rings right? what size?

Like many other people, I LOVE these bracers. TRL finally got a new shipment of Neoprene rings in and I finally got enough saved up to start this project. Obviously I'll need to experiment with the expanding seam, but I was wondering if you had any hints/tips or approximate ring count for both bracers. I'd really like to order all of the neoprene rings in one go to ensure that they're all the same color.
I will be making these for my own use and not selling them. If I make bracers to sell, they will be of a different sheet weave and probably something harder than HP3-1 Sheet 6. Which isn't saying too much, I suppose, since I find this weave to be much easier than everything but E4-1 and the like.

I love the bracers but your model looks awkward in them. :/ If you still have them I'd consider taking a new shot where she doesn't appear to be recoiling in horror. Just a thought though. HP 3-1 sheet to me is more complex than dragon scale by far which appears to be the standard of hard weaves. Amazingly good job on the bracers. <3

Nope; machine cut. Saw cut would certainly work, but I'm too cheap to get them.

This like everyone who posted on this is amazing. Now a good friend of mine has thought of making a Byzantine sheet. I would love to see a swatch of that. But he has been so busy with work that he doesn't have time.

LOL.
Well my wife and this guy love me because I perpose projects which are damn near impossible.
If I recall, I thing the way I suggested to turn a byzantine chain was to make it kind of like a Japanese 4 on 1 variant.

Friggen sweet! How did you do the seams?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
MaillerPhong In reply to Masao-hyren [2008-07-19 12:00:20 +0000 UTC]
Both the top and bottom seams are 3/4 Persian, the bottom seam incorporates expansions so it fits snugly against the arm.

kingtut98 [2008-07-12 15:20:46 +0000 UTC]
Honestly, I think this is the finest chainmaille I've ever seen!
The weave is so thick, and half persian looks just great- which is accentuated perfectly by the contrasting metals.
It stands out even on the thumbnail picture.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1
MaillerPhong In reply to jbr1 [2008-07-12 23:23:44 +0000 UTC]
Around 2500 per bracer, half steel & half neoprene.

Their Great, and just curious, how do they stay on?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
MaillerPhong In reply to lizzard9009 [2008-06-18 22:42:24 +0000 UTC]
They have expansions that match the forearm (bracers get bigger where the arm gets bigger), and the neoprene is grippy so it stays more or less where you put it.
