Well, I spent a lot of time testing what BarbDBarb reccomended me to improve Shep's scars... I still want to try it with the SSS node in blender, but for today, I just got lazyBut this render also helped me figure out how to make Liara's skin kind of glossy and well... It was interesting.

Oh man, these cracks are awful. They are partially healed, there's scar tissue around them... they *look* painful. Impressive. Before, it was something interesting - oh, how cool, there's light shining out of his arm. But now you want to put Shepard in a hospital for this.
One thing I've wondered with these cracks for a while now is how there's no blood oozing out of them. Any good ideas?

The scars are "healed". Let me explain that xD
Shepard is half synthetic, so I believe he has flesh and muscle arround a metalic skeleton in some sort, since the man was just a pile of meat when Cerberus got him... So, the parts that the skin is torned its where its too thin and weak. Remember he was rebuild from scratch after the attack of the collectors and when he woke up, Cerberus work wasn't finished yet. And the man was in the Citadel when it collapsed, around a year later. That if we are not taking to account the fact that the stress caused by the reaper war made the scars even worse.
In my head canon, he spent almost six month in a comma, with a full medical stuff putting him together again, at least as much as possible, and the scars were only an esthetic concern, so when he was ready to get up again, it was enough. He's not in condition to fight anymore, at least not how he've been fighting.
I was planning to make a render of him in the citadel eventually, just before his team rescue him. That'll be a little more bloody xD

Lol, just realized when looking in "More from DeviantArt" that I seem to have hit the same concept you did a few days earlier than me: depicting Shepard and his LI jogging! And your render definitely puts my picture to shame: Liara's skin looks excellent and the overall lighting has a very Mass Effect-ish feel to it. Also, excellent posing for both characters!

I always try to make shep taller than liara. The original models have the same height, but i dont feel it right to be honest. Its matter of realism maybe.
