Description
Today I finished my first illustration for "The important word" my second book for TouchyBooks. I've closed the file then I had dinner.While eating I felt so frustrated, sad ... not only tired.
So I finished my salad, I ran at PC, I opened my illustration quickly and in THREE MINUTES (OMG!) I just used my instinct. Something was telling me I had to do this:
- add a sepia tone ,a vintage tone to all the illustration
- add some words , so I opened two textures of old letters and I merged them on the background. I mean, the book is about A WORD, so I thought, WHY NOT?! Let's use words, writing,letters!
- add a nature detail. Oh God, I just can't stay floral details, plants, and swirls.
Look at this "first+second version"
Maybe in the UK, sepia tone is not appreciated so I'm going to use the first pastel version for the UK portfolio but hey..the second one is mine. It cames from my heart, is the real perception I had about the text and the atmosphere I feel reading the story. Hope you will like it

I like the sepia version, it looks great, but I would slightly reduce the sepia on the children,
they merge very much with the background. But that's only my opinion, or my badly calibrated screen^^

yeah I think I'm going to check the levels better, because it's a bit blurry or too bright on my notebook. do you have a notebook Moni?

I have a notebook but I don't use it for painting, but I know that my screen is always a bit too dark^^
I think this whole colour management thing is so annoyingXD

Both version are great but I prefer this one, the sepia tone add the idea of time in the illustration, it give almost the impression of a memory. I really like it! Great work! *v*
