Silently looking out of your window you watched perfect white snow flakes flutter down and kiss the path. You sadly murmured to yourself.
“Probably isn’t even real snow, probably just the junk from some spaceship.”
You wiped a stray tear from your cheek forcing a smile. It was Christmas Eve, a time to be happy, though it was so hard to be happy these days.

He was gone, for good. It wasn’t like it was before, where you had decided to leave, and there was still the miniscule chance of seeing him again. There was no chance anymore. It had been just over 18 months since he had said his final goodbye, and 2 years before that since you had traveled with him.
“_____?”
With a sigh you pulled yourself away from the window, making your way to the small lounge room where your boyfriend was currently reclined.
“Yeah?”
He looked up only for a moment, before turning his attention back to the t.v. “Get me another beer would you?”
“Whatever…”

Your boyfriend was a total jerk, but every guy you had dated since traveling with the doctor seemed that way. Rick just happened to be the only guy that didn’t care that you were distant a lot of the time. As long as you got him beer, and let him watch t.v he was happy, and as long as you were in a ‘stable’ relationship your mother was happy. Your life was now about keeping everyone else happy, because you knew, deep down in your heart, that you would never be happy again.

You opened the fridge, only to be greeted by some stale slices of Pizza, a carrot and a half empty bottle of milk; yes you were a half empty sort of person. There was no beer. With a sigh you made your way back to the lounge room.
“There’s no beer left, though you can have a glass of milk if you want.”
Rick frowned, hazel eyes narrowing. “Why the fuck would I want Milk? If there’s no beer left, go out and buy some more. It’s not that hard ____.”
You stared at Rick in disbelief for a moment. You had originally decided to go out with him because he resembled the doctor, a lot, but as time went on, you realized they were completely different.
“It’s 11 pm on Christmas Eve, I’m not going out now.”
“I don’t care what time it is _____. If you value our relationship at all you will go out and get what I ask for.”
You shook your head. “You are unbelievable. What do you ever do for me?”
He ran a hand through his brown hair. “I ignore the fact that you are completely insane. Now, are you going to get that beer or not?”
You laughed humorlessly, collecting your coat. “Get your own beer; I’m so done with you.”

You silently walked the empty streets of London, tightly wrapping your blue coat around yourself. Everything had become so hard these past few years. You were 27, and very bright. You could do better, maybe go to Wales and hunt down Jack Harkness. Torchwood would be a great way to make your life more exciting. Shaking your head you laughed at yourself. As if, you’ll probably just end up returning back to the apartment with a case of beer. That was the sort of person you were now, pathetic.

“Hello, sorry to bother you but-”
You turned around at the unfamiliar voice with a frown, hiding your tear stained face with your (h/c) hair.
“I’m sorry, but I’m in a hurry.” You replied, voice thick.
The man in front of you was odd. The thing that most caught your eye was the fez he was wearing, though the bowtie and suspenders were pretty funny as well.
He nodded his head. “Yeah, me too.”
You forced a smile. “Well, uh, goodbye?” You turned to leave when you felt a hand wrap tightly around your wrist.
“Please, don’t say that again.”

You pulled your arm away from him quickly. “I think you’ve had too much to drink.”
“_____, please, don’t leave again.”
You turned around to face him again, only to find he was a lot closer then expected.
“Who are you?”
His hand grabbed your wrist again, placing your hand on his chest. “Feel.”
Your eyes widened, beneath his shirt you could feel two strong and distinct heart beats.
“Two hearts…”
A smile graced his lips. “And they both beat for you.”
Tilting your chin up with his hand he leant in closer, his lips slowly meeting with yours.
