I never know what category to put these things in - is it fan art or is it a portrait? Who knows! I'd call it a fan art portrait, I suppose.. but that category doesn't exist

Anyway, this is my second in a series of speed paints with ~MigrantJ We're keeping each other motivated on our quest to become better painters.

I like to think of my speed painting exercises as "seedpaints" - in an hour, I get to bang out a pretty complete painting, and then I spend another hour or so tidying it up. I've realized that if I approached this with the intention of spending a lot of time on it, I'd hardly be past the sketching phase by now and the end result wouldn't be much better!

All in all, I spent 2 hours on Kate and I'm pretty pleased with it. The ref came from a regular ole google image search.
