Description

The 25 Days of Deviant Art, Day 16: Akira Yuki and Jacky Bryant - Virtua Fighter.

At last, fighting game characters in my OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes X Sonic the Hedgehog: Multiversal Collide crossover project! This was another very easy addition to that crossover, especially with six characters total that I came out with, all of whom were also in my last Sega mega crossover, Sega Vs. Capcom! (With the exception of Lau Chan as he’s been replaced with Eva Durix so I could have a more fitting counterpart to Father from the Cartoon Network show I paired these games with, Codename: Kids Next Door [which, spoiler alert, will be part of next year’s The 25 Days of Deviant Art, especially since I have a crapton of time to get all of those drawings made for the show’s 20th anniversary on December 6, 2022]) The inclusion of Virtua Fighter is especially appealing to my friend who’s really big on arcade fighting games like this (where he plays Jacky) and Street Fighter (which I just recently made a new Ryu drawing of last September for his birthday), having played both of those franchises when they were fresh and new at arcades. I myself have history with Virtua Fighter as well, as Virtua Fighter 2 is actually the very first Sega game I played outside of the Sonic series, having used to have a skating rink here in town with an arcade cabinet of it when I was a kid in the early 2000s! Today, the arcade I frequently visit (and even drew a character for them to use in promotional work!) has a cabinet of that same game, bringing back the kid in me who played it all the time back then whenever I had quarters alongside Tekken 3, Soul Calibur, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, Hydro Thunder, and Sega Super GT! Along with being my first Virtua Fighter release after I came out as transgender, Akira and Jacky are the 33rd and 37th characters, respectively, that I drew for my Sega and Cartoon Network crossover.

Virtua Fighter is owned by Sega.
