A new Pride Month, a new pride drawing (the first of three, followed by a drawing of Peacemaker and another drawing of Sonic and Gumball kissing each other releasing on the 24th). First up? Sharks! Yes, really. As you all know, I became obsessed with the latest DreamWorks animated film The Bad Guys since its opening weekend, having already made and released drawings of Mr. Wolf and Diane Foxington (the former of whom I grouped together with a new drawing of the movie incarnation of Sonic the Hedgehog [whose original ugly design somehow found its way into Chip ’n Dale: Rescue Rangers on Disney+ of all things!])! One of my favorite characters in particular is Mr. Shark, who has some of the funniest moments in the film like his improvised distraction! Alongside him here is another anthropomorphic shark, King Shark from The Suicide Squad by James Gunn (a.k.a. the Suicide Squad movie we should’ve gotten in 2016), because my weird little brain thought they’d make a cute, bloodthirsty couple. As many of you DC fans would notice, I drew King Shark in the art style of the Harley Quinn animated series that started on DC Universe before that service’s entire catalog moved to HBO Max (very puzzling that it took them as long as it did to do that along with shutting down HBO Go and Now right when Max first launched; did they learn nothing at first from Sega’s console-making decisions in the mid-90s?), and that was obviously to make him easier for me to draw. Not only does that make this my first DC Comics drawing after I came out as transgender last year, it also makes this my very first DC character crossover (and my second overall DC crossover after my drawing of Tommy Pickles and Chuckie Finster from Rugrats dressed up as Batman and Nightwing respectively, based on a joke by the YouTuber AlphaOmegaSin from his 2013 review of a bootleg Batman toy). This is also the first of two drawings you get from me this month based on The Suicide Squad, as I’m also gonna release a drawing on Tuesday based on Peacemaker, which I announced that I would be doing after all eight episodes were released on HBO Max.

In memory of one of my cats, CeCe, who my dad and his now-wife found during a gig at a bar way back in October 2010, literally right when I entered my teenage years. He and all of the other cats in dad’s house became my cats when I moved in there last year, and just like Casey and also my uncle Mike, I was unfortunate enough to watch his very last minutes of life last Saturday, making this my very first release here on Deviant Art after he died.
