Experimentation time! Mid-last month, I was starting work on what was supposed to be part of a redo of my long lost crossover collage between Sonic and Gumball plus Pikachu from Pokémon and the title character of Kirby. But then I looked at how I drew Sonic and Gumball in these poses right here and thought that these might actually work better as part of their own separate drawing. Both characters now have different poses and looks in the crossover collage I actually completed after this one and that will be released next Friday.

But, as you can see, that’s not the end of the story behind this drawing. After I drew these outlines, I looked into what other tools I have in Sketchbook, and what did I find in there? A chalk pastel tool! After I saw that and then immediately looked back at Sonic and Gumball here, I got really excited! And low and behold, I tried chalk pastel out and gave my new drawing a chalky look, almost like something you’d see in ChalkZone on Nickelodeon! It’s almost like a cross between my current digital line of work and my old traditional line of work with the colored pencils (only with colors purposefully bleeding out of the outlines for that sweet chalky look, of course)! One of the most out of the box ideas I’ve recently had, but I’ll always be glad with how such an experiment as this turned out! I also used the chalk tool in the upcoming collage I mentioned earlier in this description, by the way!
