Description
Iri heard tapping on the door, and since it had been almost three days since he last saw Squid, he figured it was finally her return. And since she couldn’t open the door herself (as she had figured out how to do at such a young age to help her in her escapes), he figured she had brought something along. From snakes to fish to the innards of fish, she seemed to bring all sorts of things to the back porch after long adventures. Maybe it was her way of apologizing for being gone so long, or giving a gift from her adventures that no one else wanted to go on with her, or perhaps maybe it was a big middle finger to Iri who tried to keep her from going on adventures, and further proved her own point that she could do whatever she wanted. He sighed at the last one, he was a bit of a control freak after all, but he hoped he hadn’t pushed her that far away from him, enough to be her enemy.
He forgot his place of thought when scratching came again, and there was rustling right outside the door, which meant something terrible: whatever Squid had with her was still alive. Iri quickly went over to their master and pulled on her pant leg, summoning her from the couch and to the door. He had to save her from whatever she had, because what if it turned on her and she only thought she could handle such a beast?? The master followed him all the way to the door where he still couldn’t see outside from the dark, despite it being see through. As much as he wanted the master to turn on the light so he could see what was going on, he knew that the electricity didn’t much work for the backyard and would need to be fixed before they could discover what Squid has done this time. He did notice, however, the there were two shadows. One was obviously that of small Squid, while the other was almost three times her size. Iri grew impatient as his caretaker finally slipped open the door and finally cast at least a little light on the figures outside. The master simply chuckled at the sight before her. “What did you find out there, Squid?”
Squid sat down and showed off her prize proudly. “I found a fren!” She said as loud as she could through the tail that hung in her mouth, connected to a rather large bay, who didn’t seem excited about the whole ordeal like Squid was.
