So amazing and majestic ^^
Arcanine is still my number one most favourite Pokemon, and you made it look so awesome ^^ (and fluffy XD)
It's a real shame Fire types sucked so much in the first 2 generations, it took a while for this magnificent fire doggo to really shine ^^

Well, they certainly made it look more and more majestic with each game and generation ^^ and kept it's fluffness ^^
As for the Fire types, it's not like they suffered just in Gen. 2, in Gen. 1 they were basically useless (despite the popular meme that Charmander was the most pickes starter, it was only with the Gen. 3 remakes that it got relevant). First of all, they were weak to Rock and Ground, the types used by the first and last Gym Leaders, they were also weak to Water, one of the most common types. On the other hand, they were strong only against Bug, Ice and Grass, with Bug types being weak in general, Ice types almost always combined with water, nullifying the weakness (Jynx and Articuno are the only 2 affected), and Grass types were also weak to Ice, which on top of that was strong against Flying and Dragon, so was MUCH more useful to have an Ice attack to deal with Grass. And to add insult to injury, Fire type attacks are generally weak, the strongest one is a TM, and Fire type mons don't learn much useful attacks.
Gen. 2 tried to improve it, but it was still not enough, and it was Gen. 3 when they finally got really strong.

In this sense you're right! Most of the trainers used rock, ground and water. And Ice, bug, grass are weak... and the attacks were weak.... and they don't learn useful attacks.... OK!!! you got a strong valid point!!! I was thinking in terms of competitive: typlosion was really bad, flareon was a shame... arcanine had nice stats but there wasn't fire stones to evolve it in gold/silver (and I'm not sure about it's stats in the 2nd game).... omg, they were really bad D:

I don't even think Arcanine was supposed to be a fire type! It's name in Japanese is literally Windy! Before it was a kirin, and had nothing to do with growlithe, after they decided to do evolutions, they modified a lot of designs to evolve into others. That's also why it has great stats: maybe it was supposed to be a legendary (like a ... kirin ahah).
If that's the case, fire types are even useless in early gens!

Whatever the original plans were, I'm glad it ended up the way it did ^^

Arcanine was a kirin before, it was very strange! That's also why there's a temple in the back ♥

I love how they seem to be in charge of protecting the little shrine from any intruders. Oh, and it seems Growlithe's eyes were closer to that of a real dog.
The fact that they're in a very oriental looking place helps them to keep their "legendary" status. (Funny thing that Arcanine is called the Legendary Pokemon, but it isn't considered one at all despite being based on chinese mythology)

That's true, Growlithe was a lot like a normal dog!
Arcanine was a Kirin before so a temple was a right choice for this.... adapted kirin from the deep web haha
