Description
A very strange event, the Rose Parade is held in Pasadena, CA around New Years in advance of a college football championship game at the Rose Bowl, also in Pasadena CA. Pasadena is located in Los Angeles County. The parade consists of two elements. High school, college and other marching bands from around the country looking to be someplace warm around New Years, and floats, extravagant motorized concoctions which, under the rules of the Rose Parade, must be completely covered in flowers or other organic materials. Roses, obviously, are favored. After the parade which people camp out for the night to get good views, they park the floats on a local street and, for a price, you can walk around them. Its called Float Fest.
There is a Queen of the parade selected from Pasadena colleges. She sits on that throne and her court sits below, all dressed in white dresses echoing pagan ceremonial sacrifices without the icky bits.
