Description Ponyta pattern. If you sew this, let me know. Haven't tried it myself yet so not sure if the colours are right.

Not sure if this is in the right category or not.

*astraldreamer has sewn this, and she's done a wonderful job. I suggest you check it out! She's adapted the colours a little and it looks gorgeous.

I'm doing the same thing on a Facebook game called Cross-Stitch World!  You have to check the game out!

I love this pattern and I'm working on it now! However, I couldn't find the DMC color 748 at Hobby Lobby, and I can't even seem to find that color listed on any DMC charts online. Has that color been discontinued? Can you recommend a replacement DMC color to use?

Thanks so much, I love your patterns (though this is only the first one I've attempted to stitch)!

I love thread buying too, it's so much fun! I sit sometimes and just look at my bobbins, love the rainbows in my boxes

Me too!!!
I'm a thread nerd.
I hope one day I'll have all the DMC colours.

That's a really cool pattern.

The charting looks familiar, what software did you use?

I used Jane Greenoff Cross Stitch Designer for the chart, made my own key, screenshotted and butchered it together in photoshop.

Aha! I thought I recognised the symbols. I used to use Jane Greenoff Pattern Creator 2 to design my own patterns, but I found it awkward to export them. I'm using the professional version of Pattern Maker now - far superior!

Great job anyway

It's a very..primitive program, it looks like it was designed for Windows 98/2000 rather than later. And her photo everywhere in it annoys me. It was a pressie from my mother, wish I could afford other pattern software!

I know what you mean. I actually met her at a stitch show last year and I told her I used her software - sadly I didn't have the heart to tell her I thought it was rubbish!!!

My dad bought mine for my mum initially but she never used it so I pinched it. It's okay for small stuff but now I plan to have a website to host my patterns I need something better which is why I upgraded to the professional version of Pattern maker: [link]

It's a bit pricey but I know a lot of people who use it so it comes recommended - you should save up and treat yourself if you take designing seriously.

BTW, are you planning on doing anymore Pokemon patterns?

Gotta stitch 'em all huh?

Well, you've got your work cut out if you plan on charting ALL the known Pokemon!

As I'm playing Heart Gold at the moment, it would have to be one of the Pokemon from that game - Chikorita or maybe Lugia and Ho-oh.

I'm working on my own Lugia design at the moment, that's if I get the time to chart it

Tell me about it. Especially if I do shinies too -.- At the moment I'm doing my bf's faves and taking it from there. Playing HG myself. Chikorita's so cute! So's mareep <3

I'm using Cyndaqil as my starter, I think Chikorita's a little weak as a starter, but if I decide to buy SS I may trade her across!

Mareep's a great pokemon and will see me through the game. I have a level 21 Flaffy atm, can't wait for him to evolve - Ampharos rocks!

Ahem, anyway, going back to the designing, out of curiosity...how have you been able to export the symbols from JG for your charts - I could never figure out how to do that!

I don't, I copy them from the screenshot in photoshop. Chikorita's the hardest to start with and Mareep is seeing me through mine, my highest level pokemon. Just training up for the dragon gym now.

Yep, that would make sense - I never thought about doing it that way.

The software I'm using now is a lot less fiddly as it exports all the pattern information into a hand .RTF file!

I think I will be sticking with Mareep and his evolutions throughout the game.

I am only up to Ecruteak - have a long way to go!!!
