Aaron meeting Jun was bound to happen... Here's the story;
Tired and hungry, Aaron stumbled back to the alley he called home. It had been a long day for him, out adventuring with two young girls he considered his friends. But they'd parted ways for the evening, and Aaron was once again all alone. Knowing he didn't have enough money to buy food, he hadn't stopped by any restaurants or stores to get a bite to eat. Going into the alley, he hoisted himself up into a dumpster to see if any edible things were in there. Much to his dismay, there wasn't much in there he could eat, especially since the dumpster had been emptied earlier that day.
Sighing heavily, he hopped back out of the dumpster and slumped against it, allowing himself to slowly slide down until he was sitting on the ground. His ears flattened as his stomach growled loudly. "Yea yea, I know. But there's nothing to eat right now." Aaron's stomach gurgled in response. His lip quivered and he wrapped his arms and tail around himself, shivering. "I wonder when he'll be back..." He muttered to himself. His gaze traveled around the alley until it landed on a small, black square object; a wallet. Aaron's ears perked up and he stood, going to it and picking it up.
"Alright Aaron..." He spoke to himself, "Don't get your hopes up, it could be empty..." He took a deep breath and opened it, looking through the contents. He pulled out a wad of bills, grinning and counting them. "YES!" He hopped up and down in excitement. His stomach gurgled loudly. "Alright, I know!" He tossed the empty wallet into the dumpster and headed out of the alleyway.
"What to eat, what to eat..." Aaron muttered to himself as he walked, counting the cash once again. He stopped and sniffed the air, suddenly distracted by a delicious smelling aroma that surrounded him. He kept sniffing, trying to figure out where it came from. He realized it was coming from the restaurant across the street from the alley he lived in. "Of course!" He pat his stomach, "All the time I've lived here, not once have we gone to eat in there! First time for everything." He quickly ran across the street to the restaurant and went inside.
It wasn't particularly fancy, but it certainly wasn't like Chick-Fil-A or In-N-Out. The receptionist looked at him with slight confusion, "Hi, welcome to the Rainy Day Café, table for how many?" "One." Aaron replied. "One? Alright..." A waitress behind her took a menu, "If you could come right this way please." Aaron followed her to a small booth in the corner. The waitress put the menu if front of him as he sat, "Anything to drink little boy?" "Do you have milk?" "We certainly do, small glass?" "Large please." The waitress wrote it down, "Alright, I'll be back to take your order." She gave him a small smile and walked away.
Aaron flipped through the menu, ignoring the stares of the other people around him. After a few moments, the waitress came back, setting a large glass of milk with a straw in front of him. "Ready to order?" Aaron nodded, "Do you have tuna sandwiches?" The waitress eyed him for a second, "Did you look at the menu?" Aaron's ears went back, "Yes. I did. But it doesn't say what type of fish is on the fish sandwich." "I see. No, I'm sorry, we don't." "Okay... I'll take the fish n chips." "Are you sure?" Aaron nodded and the waitress wrote it down. "I'll have that right out for you, little boy." Aaron rolled his eyes as she walked away, "How rude..." He murmured.
The waitress gave the order to the cook, then went toward her boss's office, hoping he was there today. She knocked, and there was a hesitated 'open the door'. She tried and it was locked. "Sir, I ca-" The door unlocked and opened. She looked at the young, frail looking neko who stood there. "Sousuke." The boss, Jun, spoke. Sousuke stepped aside, letting the waitress in. "Sir, there's a young boy out there." The waitress spoke. "And?" Jun replied. "He doesn't have anyone with him, no parents. He's small, very small, he's a child. He looks like... Him." She pointed to Sousuke.
"He tried to order a tuna sandwich, when I said we don't have any he ordered the fish n chips basket. He couldn't possibly finish that, it's from the adults menu. Who knows if he has the money to pay for it, and he reeks of... Dare I say, garbage. It's like he lives in a dumpster. He's disturbing the customers, should I ask him to lea-" "No." Jun stood, "You don't have to serve him, if he makes you so uneasy. Get back to work, now." The waitress gave a swift nod and quickly went away. Jun looked at Sousuke, raising an eyebrow. "You stay here." Sousuke sat on the floor and nodded.
Aaron was almost halfway finished with his milk when his order finally arrived. "Here, young man." Jun said, setting the small boy's food down in front of him. Aaron smiled and started eating. After he was done, the waitress from before came to deliver the bill. She was surprised when Aaron had enough to pay, and that he'd finished all his food. "Thanks for the milk." He said, then got up and headed out. He was about to cross the street, when he was stopped by Jun. "Young man." Aaron turned to face him. Jun bent down so he was eye-level with him, "Where are your parents?"
Aaron gulped, "They're.... At home." "Don't lie to me." ".... I don't have any parents..." "I see. Well." Jun stood up. "Where do you live?" "Somewhere." Jun slightly glared, "The streets are no place for a young one like you to live." "I'm fine, really-" Aaron's ears flattened as Jun picked him up, "I have a son like you. Part cat... Small. Though he's a lot more soft spoken than you are." Aaron trembled, "Please put me down." "Hey hey, there's no need to be scared. Not anymore. I'm the owner of the restaurant actually, I'll take care of you, that's what I'm offering. Your belly will always be full, you'll never be shivering in the cold, or sleeping on concrete. What do you say..?"
Aaron thought the offer was tempting, but he didn't want this man to be his father. Something didn't seem right about him, and aside from that he already wanted someone else to take care of him. Even though he thought it was a small chance that the person he met would be his father, a chance was a chance. And he trusted him way more than Jun, especially since they had strong similarities. At least that's what Aaron believed. All he had to do was find him again. "N-no thank you... My... Uh.... Big sisters take care of me, they gave me money to get something to eat so I came here. I'm fine, please put me down." Jun's eyes dulled, "Alright then. You tell your 'sisters' that... You all are always welcome here, and you can eat free of charge. If the ladies in there have a problem, ask for me."
Not knowing what to do, Aaron wrapped his arms around the man in a slight hug, "Alright, uh, thanks. I'll let them know." Jun pat his back, then put him down, but held him firmly by the arm. "My offer still stands. If you ever change your mind, and decide to stop lying to me, I'll be here. I'll take you in and keep you safe from this cruel world that makes you live in the conditions you do now. Remember that." He let him go. Aaron stared up at him in fear a few seconds, then turned and ran across the street. Instead of going to the alley, he kept running so that Jun didn't know where he lived.
