Description An illustration for a personnal project I'm working on these days, about a legend of a snake that was staring at the sun.

I love aboriginal culture and legends! It's a world so full and complex, very different from ours.
Aboriginal art is incredibly complex and rich, every drawing, painting or sculpture holds the story and the memory of an ancestor spirit, linked to the Tjukurrpa (The Dreamtime), the time when ancestor were traveling through the earth and gave birth to every single landscape, rock, tree or river in Australia.
Each aboriginal tribe is the guardian of a piece of the dreamtime (which they do not consider as past, but more as a spiritual dimension in-beteen present), a myth or a legend called a "dream", unique and told from generation to generation.

Read some articles about this culture, it's incredibly rich and unique

If you have been learning about this culture, you might want to think twice about using Tjukurrpa imagery and symbolism in pieces of your own. As you are aware, Aboriginal culture is very complex and spiritual. The Tjukurrpa are passed down through oral history and to be able to recreate the images of these stories, they must go through years of learning and finally initiation to become custodians of their specific Dreamings. To use them in our own art, as non-Aboriginals, is disrespectful of their culture and tradition since this is their intellectual property. To read up about this: [link]
I'm sure you had the best of intentions creating this (it is very beautiful). But I hope you see that there is a big responsibility and controversy attached to using parts of Tjukurrpa oustide of its context.

This is absolutely lovely! An excellent decision, going with darker paper, it makes the rendering of the image look much more primitive, which really accentuates the whole 'tribal folklore' feel!

This is so beautiful. We are talking in our English lessons in school about Australia and also about Aborigines.
I love the light and shadings, the face seems just to be real. You're incredibly talented.
