Come to pet your horses and fuss at your chickens and eat your apples.

A couple days back, I got the urge to pick up a pencil and do some doodlings in my sketchbook, which I haven't done in a really long time. I'm very rusty and didn't really care how any of them came out, just so long as I was tooling with it. One of the sketches looked pretty nice, so I decided I was going to scan it, tweak the anatomy a bit, and then ink it.

Come next morning, I scanned it, mirrored it, and recoiled, ahaha. It was bad. I ended up having to cut it apart and rebuild it, adjust for composition, restructure the shawl, etc. I probably could have redrawn it and saved time but I didn't want to give it up.

Tried out a slightly different ink style than what I normally do. The newer version of Krita has a lot of new default brushes built by an artist I follow, so I wanted to try them. Then I felt like it needed a little something, so I tooled around with some screentone-esque fill patterns and got something that I think looked nice. I really do like the aesthetic of screentones, but working with them makes my eyes hurt -- they flash and strobe and it feels a bit like staring into a bright light. I never have a problem with them on comic pages, but I guess staring at them up close messes with my sensory issues. There was a dotty background, but I wondered if it would give other people with sensory problems some issues, so I scrapped the bg and put in a textured thing instead.

100% of this picture is because I felt like drawing my Link in a shawl, ahaha. Dunno yet if I'll give him one, but he does think they're neat and would absolutely wrap himself in one if given the chance.
