...There we've hid our faery vats,
Full of berrys
And of reddest stolen cherries. - Yeats

The poem is "The Stolen Child", by William Butler Yeats, written around 1889. Yeats loved the Irish legends and believed faeries (Irish spelling) to be entirely real. The poem was set to music by Loreena McKennitt in 1985. She probably believes in faeries too.

I found the translation and the poem is very moving. But as for me sad. This quote you wrote is really perfect

Yes quite sad, and haunting. In some legends faeries are good, others bad. Yours is obviously one of the good ones. The ancient faery beliefs predate Christianity and the concept of heaven. When a child had a brother or sister die, parents said he/she had been stolen by the faeries. In both beliefs the child hasn't died but has gone to a better place. To me that means the faeries don't steal children, they rescue them - from the world of weeping.
