Description
Uploading again. Fucked up with the sound in compression.Awareness is an experimental abstract I did for the art site neosynthesis.net as a commercial back in 2005.
It was a little idea about evolution, that trickered in my mind one evening.
Hope you all enjoy.. (now with sound as well).

I found my way here from a link in ^Katerina423 's journal so I was expecting some horror-y and wonderful. And wow...what I found was exactly that. The vibratey sound that played when the credit text came up is awesome - it sounds like a tattoo needle vibrating.

I'm quite satisfied with the soundscape of it myself. A friend of mine Noah who did it. Mixes of the most crazy stuff.. foxes that are fucking, sounds made by the girl playing in the movie and all sorts of weird things.

Wow, a really intense short film... quite the journey! You managed to convey a whole load of emotions but keep that continuity and sense of progression all the same. I have to say I loved the shapes the actress' body made in the early segments of the film... aesthetically, that was beautiful.. the body as a piece of art in it's own right, even without the emotions attached to it.

I don't think I ever ran an actor as hard as I did with this girl... or actually. She's not an actor, but a close friend of mine that I know extremely well, so it became a journey into finding things in her that trickered the needed emotions for the video.
I'm urging to do more videos like this when I have the time for it. Been playing around with the idea of making a video that is in opposite to this one, with a french male actor I know. Unfortunately time is always an issue and it takes quite an amount of time doing a film production like this. Next one will propably be made in the same style as I made in this one [link]

Nice movie, but don´t like in this frame the cyan texture, could have been something more acording to the color palette. Red or maybe blured out.
I must say the white set is very well done, fits well with the sound design. Digital effects also. Nice job!

There's several things I would have done different if I did a video like that now.. and especially the cyan thing is one of them.. But I had no idea how to do it otherwise at that time. (I think it was 2k5 I did it). I would propably have sorted it with some frame by frame animation now or with some 3d abstracts..

Remember to keep simple. Your short is simple enough to work wonderfull, there are just details, like allways everyone has, including the biggest directors.
Simple and smart, thats it.

The inherent meaning wasn't easy to get out of just the film. but after reading your explanation i think it was well done. some of the shots and effects were very well executed, the effect of speeding up and reversing the time got a little old, but overall pretty impactful but i felt a lack of clarity

some of the speed ramps I did, was to make her movements more animalistic.
Anyhow.. it's old stuff this vid. Some things I would have done different if I were to do it now, but that's the thing.. we (hopefully) progress all the time.
