The faded green of the foliage background out of focus draws your attention to the butterfly/moth and makes the insect pop bring it right to the forefront. The position of the butterfly/moth wing spread is exceptional with the eyes of the wings brings your eye around the photo. Also cropping the image so that the thistle it looks is bending out of view with the leaf of the stem once more bringing your eye back to the insect. Was this image a chance image or did you wait patiently for just the right moment? What kind of lens did you use to capture this image?
