Description Graphite's heroics during the Byran invasion earned him quite a bit of fame in his hometown of Indigo. But it took a bit of time before this news reached the opposite side of Kheji; in the city of Crimson the news of a thwarted invasion reawakened the dreams of -- apparently -- another soldier-to-be.

Pyrite would eventually meet Graphite in person and make known to everyone his interest in protecting Kheji as a proper soldier as well. While his own combat experience is not as robust as Graphite's had become, Pyrite had also underwent vigorous training through most of his life, making him surprisingly formidable. It would take Pyrite quite a bit of doing to prove himself to be the same caliber of soldier as Graphite, but he has quite a few advantages. For one, he has the knowledge of how to recruit and train a proper army, which he named the "Crimson Khejian Army." This is thanks to the wisdom passed down from his late father, the famed commander Schorl. He is also notably more approachable than Graphite; while some could attribute this to his relative inexperience, it's without question that Graphite's cold stare and intense presence are intimidating enough to most people, which makes those wishing to fight alongside Graphite feel scared to train under him. Finally, Pyrite shows more reliance towards others in terms of their skills and knowledge, and keeps a relatively open mind when compared to Graphite's narrow and almost paranoid views.

With that said, Pyrite's intentions don't appear to be completely selfless. While meeting with Graphite for the first time he recognized a childhood acquaintance in Indigo City -- the aspiring martial artist Zoisite. He became smitten by her more mature appearance and noticed her mild attachment to Graphite. As such, he's made it a secondary goal to beat Graphite at his own game, with the hopes that Zoisite may become so impressed at his skills that she will become more attracted to him. This intention is just subtle enough for both Graphite and Zoi to notice, but not so blatant as to seem completely petty. Regardless, it makes Graphite and Pyrite both allies and rivals, and causes the probably of them being true friends to falter somewhat. They are both dedicated to keeping Kheji safe, but Graphite's unsure if he's truly dedicated to the cause...

It's a more contemporary soldier's uniform, compared the older style Graphite likes to wear. The design on the shoulder was commissioned to a modest designer in Crimson City; "Quetz" probably would've made something a lot nicer, but the simplicity of this design seemed rather appealing to Pyrite.

Figures the artist would make something like that. :v But then again Copper can make cool stuff too.

You know, in a way, that kinda reminds me of the end of the USSR. How it lead to the uprising of the Russian mafia. I can't imagine they really want to bully the other Teijru into getting their way. Moreso they're refinements of the way things used to be in the past.

In the past, "armies" on Kheji were put together by the number of people that were willing to die fighting for whatever cause was in dispute. After those battles ended, the armies disbanded and they went back to their normal lives. The thought of an army dedicated to the protection of the planet was never a thing until the Byrans invaded; this gave Graphite a legitimate purpose to train for battle, but at the same time it set on a new form of paranoia that would plague his mind -- the thought of Kheji's endangerment, or even its destruction.

So, not the question becomes, is that paranoia justified, or is it simply in his head?

Well, Kheji is a small planet with a modest, nonviolent population. Its unique ecosystem includes deposits of rare minerals and gemstones that can replenish themselves at incredible rates. There are very few traces of modern technology, so no proper defense is present when it comes to extraterrestrial invasion. Because of this, a spaceship of shoddy craftsmanship containing tough meat-headed Byrans ended up becoming a threat to the inhabitants before Graphite stepped in.

And yet there are many other world out there, with bigger societies, more advanced technology, and even destructive weaponry that could easily decimate a planet Kheji's size. Kheji's a relative unknown, but it's not invisible, and people will always be curious about planets that no one else seems to know. And Teusen, a genius Byran forced to live on Kheji, has started to gather up a lot of information about the planet and its inhabitants, which in turn will make other worlds aware of what Kheji has to offer. Graphite has been very concerned about sharing info about Kheji and wanted to keep knowledge of the planet "out of the loop," so as not to entice other worlds to step in and take what they want, ruining the way of life the Khejians have become used to for so long, if only that.

Graphite is terrified of what could happen during another invasion, one from a more competent world with craftier minds and heavier firepower. Even as a "super-soldier" he can only do so much on his own, and there's little else that would hold invaders back. He's training his body even harder and trying to come up with solutions for the planet's protection, but as long as he has doubts of Kheji's safety he's never going to be able to rest. And he feels like he's the only one truly worried about it.

So, in a sense, he's kinda like a doomsday preper. The guy that's constantly warning of the potential dangers the planet maybe about to face that people may tend to brush off as unjustified paranoia. I can't imagine that the likes of somebody like Calcite would help that either. Given that he's actually been to other worlds like Graphite has and seems to be more lax about other species.

That's kind of a good way to put it, yeah.
