Description Earth-43, also called the Nightmare Earth, is a world shrouded in perpetual night. Such has it been ever since the alien entity known as Pyron, a humanoid star with dreams of conquest, appeared with the intent to replace the sun in Earth's sky and be worshiped as a god. He cloaked the Earth in pitch-black clouds and set all manner of demons and monsters free to terrorize the world in his name. Now, with time running out for an endangered human race and the threat of Pyron's demon generals everywhere, a brave band of heroes has banded together to save humanity, defeat Pyron and restore the light!

Donovan: A Dhampire, born to a human mother and a vampire father, Donovan has always walked the line between light and darkness. Seeking solace in the physical and spiritual training of Buddhism, Donovan became a master martial artist, and was eventually presented with the mystic Spell Sword, a magical blade capable of summoning powerful spirits of ice, fire and lightning. Using the massive prayer beads he wears to help contain and focus the power within himself, Donovan travels alongside his ward, Anita, hunting Pyron's general, Dimitri, the vampire who killed his parents.

Bigfoot: An elder statesman of the great Sasquatch tribes, Bigfoot (His real name being unpronounceable in any language other than his own) acts as an advisor and spiritual guide for the team, having spent his long life in communion with the spirits of nature. He was not hard to convince to join the Dark Hunters, as Pyron's plague of darkness has caused unforgivable harm to his people's forest homes. Having experienced the madness and cruelty of the alien deity's follower's firsthand, Bigfoot looks forward to the day Pyron experiences the weight of his heel on his throat!

Bishamon: Born in the era of feudal Japan, a boy called Bishamon was raised as a warrior from the time he was old enough to walk. By the time he was 13, the shogun had promoted him to the rank of samurai. After 100 battles, Bishamon was known throughout the provinces as "the unbeatable general". Many believed Bishamon might one day be the shogun. However, his lord's son, a cruel and greedy man, jealous of Bishamon's strength and popularity, had gained the throne. The wicked man struck a pact with evil yokai to create a cursed suit of armor and sword, which he presented to Bishamon as a gift of good will. The first time Bishamon donned the armor for battle and drew the cursed blade, the evil spirit Ginnai struck, sealing Bishamon inside an immense temple bell, a curse which lasted for centuries. When Pyron came, he sensed Bishamon's ferocious spirit and set the cursed samurai free. For a time, Bishamon stood among Pyron's generals out of a sense of duty, until he was confronted by Harry and Dorian, who opened his eyes and helped him see he was once again being USED by an evil leader. In this confrontation, Bishamon's katana, and thus the spirit of Ginnai, was destroyed, freeing Bishamon from the curse of the demon forever. Now, to atone for his sins and to one day reunite with his beloved wife in the spirit realm, Bishamon fights on the side of good, proud to have found allies to pledge his sword to.

Felicia: The princess of the cat-people, Felicia was lost as a kitten and raised by a Catholic nun in an orphanage among human and monster children alike. Enamoured with human popular culture, Felicia longed to be a star. After leaving the orphanage as a young woman, Felicia set out as a performer, sending most of what she made back to the orphanage to provide for those who had given her so much. Coming across the orphaned Harry, Felicia looked out for the child, having remembered what it was to be alone in the world. It was during their time traveling together that Felicia discovered her birth tribe and her rightful place as future queen of the cat-people. Felicia's experiences have given her all the reason to help create a world where humans and supernatural beings can live together in peace.

Harry Grimoire: The last living descendent of Merlin himself, Harry comes from a long line of master wizards. Harry was next in line to inherit the mantle of his world's protector against supernatural threats from his grandfather, Elijah, but Pyron attacked the Earth when he was still only a child, slaughtering Elijah and the rest of his family. Looked after by Felicia ever since, Harry has kept in hiding, secretly training to increase his powers and his mastery of the various magic artifacts his ancestors left behind.

Riku: The king of the merfolk, dwelling in the underwater city of Atlantis, Riku inherited his throne at an early age, after an attack on the city by their rivals killed his parents. A born athlete and warrior, Riku has had no end of trouble reconciling his hot youthful blood with his duties to his people. Nevertheless, he has pledged his arm, his will and his army to the Dark Hunters whenever they have need, for he has no love for Pyron and longs to see the oceans restored to their former glory.

Jon Talbain: Hailing from England, Jon's father was a werewolf from an old and resected family line. Born to a human mother, Jon knew nothing of his lupine heritage, as his father had disappeared when he was still very young. Then, around his sixteenth birthday, on the night of a full moon, Jon transformed into the mighty creature he is now. At first terrified, Jon came to revel in his new form, running through the forests without a care. Jon's reasons for opposing Pyron are personal. Without daylight, neither he nor ANY werebeast can resume their human forms, and are slowly losing their minds to their bestial sides.

Hsien-Ko: Hsien-Ko and Mei-Ling were twins born in a family of Senjutsushis. Both of them were raised to be Senjutsushis and were taught Senjutsu. On the ceremonial night when they were to become a Senjutsushi, their village was attacked by demons. The mother of the twin girls gave her life to protect the sisters, but because of this, her soul was trapped in darkness. To release their mother's soul from the darkness, Hsien-Ko uses the Igyo Tenshin technique to turn into a Jiang-Shi. Mei-Ling, her older sister, turns into a ward to make sure Hsien-Ko doesn't lose control of herself. The two set off to hunt down Darkstalkers as demon hunters.

Victor: Created in the 1800s by mad scientist, the Baron von Gerdenheim, Victor was NOT his creator's first attempt at recreating life. Before Victor had come Emily, a much more... aesthetically pleasing flesh golem created from the body of a young village woman who had died of consumption. However, unlike Victor, Emily was not capable of producing electricity in her own body and shut down a few years after Victor was brought to life. Having already lost the closest thing to a father he knew, Victor took to guarding his sister's body and the castle and its surrounding grounds, driving off any creature who came near. At first approached by Dimitri and Pyron's other generals, Victor understood they were evil people, the kind of his people his father had created him to fight! Alongside the other Dark Hunters, who have promised to help Victor revive Emily, Victor has finally found what he has always wanted... friends. A family.
