Description The team known as "Metal Men" split up, but its very emergence gave dr. Rachel Roth an idea. Wishing to create a true metal human, and not a robot with artificial intelligence, dr. Roth created the Responsometer - a micro-computer capable of giving life to any material. She was assisted by Kate Spencer, her lab assistant who sometimes understood dr. Roth without words - their minds worked almost as one. So when Kate was killed by a demon, Rachel could not continue her work alone. She could not work with anybody who was not Kate. Maybe that drove her crazy. Maybe she decided to risk it all. Anyway, dr. Roth got a very bad idea. She stole Kate's body and implanted her Responsometer in it, hoping that it will bring Kate back. The result was...overwhelming. Kate came alive - but it was not the same lively and fun girl dr. Roth was used to. Her entire personality changed and Kate obtained superhuman powerts - the ability to shapeshift, to grow and shrink, and enlarge any parts of her body, or change their form. The new Kate insisted that her name is "Brain" - that was the work of the Responsometer, it would assume the name of a material it was attached to. However, the journalists suggested another name, "Elasti-Girl" - and the Responsometer liked it better.
