Painting I did for a class. We had to illustrate a clear glass and bottle with a beverage inside. It had to be in a setting and the bottle should have a label. I wanted to do a beach setting with coral and fish in the glass. The kanji on the label says 'Taste of Sea.'Critiques are always welcome. I feel REALLY happy about this one, took me about 8 hours.

It is pretty nice.
The only thing that really strikes me is that the sky is a tad empty. But that's
how I would have drawn it, I think its just fine the way it is...
Though if I downloaded it I'd crop out the sky.

This is really good! Still life isn't always that easy, and glass? whew! forget it. I think the background came out great, especially the tree, and the sand is also well done because I know sand is hard for sure ^.^ Now to try and give you some...critique from what little I know. I feel the bottle came out a bit better then the glass, I think its label needs a tad bit more contrast to the right (erm..its left?) But I absolutely love the way the top part and the cork look.
The glass's proportions are off slightly, one side seems longer and I think what makes the bottle look better is contrast, your glass needs a little more lights and darks to make it pop all the more.

The shadows slant because they're closer and on hills of sand, so the shadow follows the contour of the sand, while the palm tree shadow is further back and over a larger amount of flatter sand. That's why the shadows are like that.
And thanks so much for the critique! This was actually based off a reference picture and there was no foam on the beach because of how still the water was⦠so pretty! But I do have a bit, it's just covered by the glass.
