Description

During recent excavations in a garden over here I unearthed an ancient jar, providing indisputable evidence that the history of Czechia may have to be rewritten with regard to more equine nature of some important historical figures from Czech history and...

alright already, it is not exactly an archeological artefact and maybe I painted it myself, so history won't have to be rewritten

Anyway, the Czequestria 2019 is drawing near. History fanatic that I am I love the motto "Ancient times".

So I got a clay jar / vase that had a somewhat ancient look to it and painted it with the skyline of Prague, the Czequestria mascot Miss Libussa and ponified versions of four famous people from Czech history.

I want to donate this jar to the charity auction at the Czequestria and also want to point out that I mean for it to be a little declaration of love to the Czech brony fandom as a whole. You are an amazing, cheerful, creative crowd making any brony event you attend at least 20% cooler

Here is a little animation showing the jar from all sides.

For the time being I am not going to give their names here as I am curious to see if these characters are identified by the features, accessories and cutie marks I gave to them.

This is Miss Libussa of course...

...but do you recognize these as well?

Edit: These ponies represent Jan Žižka , Jan Hus , Charles IV. and Gregor Mendel .

The Jar turnt out great. Hopefully it scores a high bit at the auction.
But I have no clue what the four famous people are.
I am looking forward of the solution of the mystery.

I reckon I'll solve the mystery after the Czequestria

I'm sure some of the Czech bronies have identified some of the characters by their cutie marks and accessories.

After the Czequestria?

I thought that I just read that you will be leaving before the closing ceremony. Do you plan to publish the solution online or when you leave?

Either way I am definitely interested what this humans/ponies did.

The "after the Czequestria" referred to changing the online texts afterwards while of course during the Czequestria itself it is not meant to be some big mystery

We might in fact come across two or three of the people during the larp on Friday

Lovely art, you have done good job ponifing these four notable Czech men  (It is disputable whether the last one was Czech... and if the first one should be that notable, but nevermind

Thank you very much, Pony-from-Everfree

In case of the last one it is indeed tricky with the shifting of borders and the migration of people, but at least his birthplace would have been within todays borders. As for the first one I must stress that "notable" doesn't mean that I would condone the actions of him, part of the reason I decided for him is that he is rather easy to recognize. I had several other candidates in mind for the Jar as well and may write more about it when it is unlikely that there are any more guesses about who these ponies represent.

Well, his family wasn’t truly Czech either, so there is that. But the history of that time is more than complicated.

As for the other one, he was made popular by the previous regime for obvious reasons, albeit he didn’t even play that much of a significant role in history. Funny thing is, he burnt down one town and nowadays the very square of the town is named after him. That’s just bizzare.

I'm rather worried by now. Have I (without meaning to) picked characters which are likely to cause controversy or uneasiness?

I really hope (as I wrote) for this to be seen as a tribute to the awesomeness of the Czech bronyfandom and would be embarassed and horrified to find it being unsuitable for that meaning.

I have seen three out of these four characters as monuments in Prague, but (like your example shows) a monument doesn't make an individual unproblematic

Will you too be at the Czequestria by the way?

Oh, don’t fret. All of the people are seen by the general public in non-controversial light, it’s just that it is starting to be popular to de-myth the glided history of many historical figures. You have nothing to fear

To be honest, I don’t attend any conventions, plus I’m not sure if I’ll even be at home during Czequestria. The few Czech bronies that I have encountered didn’t exactly make me want to go there either. Maybe those were just some bad apples, but it still soured my view of the whole bunch.

That's a relief for me. I started worrying that I had stumbled into a fauxpas.

I'm sorry your experiences with other bronies around have been negative. Every fandom has its hooligans and sadly the bronyfandom is no exception. One may have to go with ocassional bad apple to enjoy the bushel of the good ones.

My experience during the Czequestria 2017 has been utterly positive though and all the work and creativity the organizers of the events and the contributers have put into activities such as the larp, many workshops and panels are very deserving of praise and recognition.
