Description
This is a bit of a spin-off project since this moon is just a little detail in the background of an upcomming project for Luna Day 2018. I found it a bit of a pity that it might easily be overlooked in the later project, so I took some pictures just of this piece of decor and also made a little "mare in the moon phases" animation of it.
Edit: On a side note, I just noticed that I reversed the moon cycle compared to how it would look on our earth. If played backwards the moon phases would be correct (if illuminated from the left the moon should be waning and if illuminated from the right it should be waxing) but with the totally different lunar and celestial situation in Equestria I think it is quite possible that the moon phases too would be different from the way the look on our earth.

This was once again one of those spontaneous projects not planned long but done in the spirit of the moment. Sometimes such projects get more interesting than stuff long planned and prepared.
