Description

With Pinkie Pie Day 2018 of Equestria Daily (October, 8th) comming up, I made a little Pinkie Pie figure from chenille wire (more commonly known as pipe cleaners).

Here is a second image showing her from the other side (other images will come soon as a collage and animation):

Beautiful Malte!

I'll need to do something over the weekend for Pinkie Pie day...

Great work as always.

This is wonderful!Β  This is just like a scene from one of her parties!Β

Thanks a lot, Vile-Flesh

I went some lengths for the background here and I swear, those balloons do have a consciousness and a mischievous one at that. Scientists will claim that static electricity made those balloons randomly cling to or alternatively chase each other (or me), but I prefer to think that some part of Pinkie Pie was breaking the fourth wall and partying while I was struggling to arrange those balloons

Haha!Β  That would have been a really funny sight to see you try to setup that scene for a photo with the balloons misbehaving.Β

Rest assured that it would have made for some funny epic fail videos

My pleasure.

You really are getting good at these pipe cleaner sculpts.

I also keep experimenting. Sadly PonyCrafter whose mastery in this form of art I truly adore doesn't seem to be on Deviantart anymore so I cannot ask her for some advise.

However three new things I tried out with this one are:

1. using stryrofoam balls inside the head and torso of the figure. Not only does this make it much easier to keep the proportions right, but the pipe cleaners can also easily be attached to (stuck into) those styrofoamballs, sparing some intertwisting of the wires which often doesn't look too well.

2. I used dome wires for the cutie mark and eye lashes here (this is something I saw PonyCrafter had done with her figures (in her case she seems to have cut short the hair on some pipe cleaners while I used just wires in some parts).

3. I made the eyes from felt this time. The eyes are probably the most complex part of the entire figure and none of the solutions I tried so far (printed eyes from adhesive labels, eyes made out of pipe cleaners or felt eyes) are really good. I hope to find some better methods in the future... stitching perhaps?

This sounds like a very good concept to build on… So to speak.
