Description
Relaxing and practicing.This one I had originally painted with a high noon, sunny vibe but having those Abbey/Small church ruins there...I just couldn't go with sunshine lol. I still wanted to keep the midground well lit while trying to establish a foggy and relatively gloomy feel.

I have to say I'm a little bit curious to see what this would look like under a hot sun.

When I had the sun shining around halfway done, it looked good but I just couldn't shake the need to add in this morning atmosphere in the end.

I think you achieved just the right atmosphere in this to compliment the ruins.
Excellent work with the aerial perspective and colors to create this effect.Β
The path leading to the ruins I feel is an excellent eye lead into the paintingΒ .
The L shaped composition gives this very good balance and unity.
The details, highlights and textures give it great eye appeal.
I feel the color pallet is very harmonious and the slight splash of light on the brushes gives a very nice contrast that is eye catching and works wellΒ Β but does not take away from the general atmosphere of the painting.

Ruins can look really pretty in high noon sun, and also still look somewhat gloomy because they're ruins ;D the light fog gives a really nice atmosphere though

That's true! In the middle of the process, I think I was influenced by a mental image in my head and it went on repeat: "early morning". That feeling stuck and I just couldn't shake the idea and need of fog.
