Rainbow Dash had always aspired to be the Best. And the 'Best' were the Wonderbolts. Training since she was a filly, Rainbow Dash finally got an opportunity to audition for the elite group... only to lose the position to a slower, sloppier flier, who happened to slip the examiner a few bits. Disillusioned, the young pegasus came to see the group for what it had become; a private security force that had left the military in favor of the better pay offered by the various Corporations. Refusing to give up her dream of being the Best, Dash turned it in a new direction; to be better the the Wonderbolts.

Approached by Sunset Shimmer after getting in a fight with, and beating, a trio of Wonderbolts, Dash agreed to help her take on the Corporations, since it meant more opportunities to one-up her former idols... as long as the group got named after her, of course. Eschewing weapons in favor of sheer speed and her own hooves, Rainbow Dash is an adrenaline junkie who live for the rush of speed and the thrill of a good fight. Despite her reckless style often getting her in over her head, even costing her one of her wings, her confidence never wavers and she never hesitates to take a hit to protect one of her teammates.
