Unfortunately Bennett's interpretation mistook a maxilla for a giant scleral ring crushed in the plane of the disk (which never happens otherwise) in the front half of the skull (which never happens otherwise in pterosaurs) with an antorbital fenestra much smaller than the orbit (which never happens otherwise in basal pterosaurs). Bennett also interpreted a super wide parietal with widely spaced upper temporal fenestrae (which never happens otherwise in pterosaurs). Altogether a horrible case of misinterpretation. A better reconstruction can be seen by seeking the keywords, "flat head pterosaur."

I took as a basis for an anatomical drawing by Jaime Headden " Anurognathus Head Study "

Can't tell if it's adorable or terrifying. In any case, I've always thought of anurognathids more like nightjars, but this is a great idea. Hey, do you think you could quickly sketch up a version with the fuzz covering the entire upper and lower jaws? If you don't take requests or don't have the time I understand; I just want to see how it looks.
