I just watch the movie this afternoon with an old friend. He framed me to watch it with him. Yes he asked me first but before i could change my mind, he said: I already bought the tickets so you have to go with me! How could i say no...

The movie tells about ten children in the Belitong Island in Indonesia. They were poor but has a very strong will to learn. They study in an old poor school which only had 3 teachers including the headmaster. They have to compete with the richer schools so they could survive and continue studying in their poor little school.

it's a very inspiring movie, just like the novel itself. Yes this movie is based on a novel by Andrea Hirata. The novel was said to be his childhood experience in the island of Belitong.
