I think Prime's a great choice for this. As much as I respect the Animated version of Optimus, he did give in to pressure a lot more then his generation one precursor. I guess his age is to blame for it. He's fairly young, after all.

It makes sense in a way though, doesn't it? He actually DID become apathetic--he allowed Sentinel to blame him (though it was he and Elita's fault being in that cave to begin with), didn't fight or even defend Magnus' decision, and just let himself be kicked out of the elite to do maintenance in a backwater. So, very appropriate, particularly the cobweb background.
