Description Quick sketches of some new characters for the Empires of the Mist project.
They'll be staring in a little illustrated story arch which follows this trio who are their own little makeshift pirate crew.

Lark (center): An old character I've resurrected and redesigned for this (the last image I drew of her can be seen here: [link]

Larksahai Muhani was a Sa'aljan girl who is absolutely convinced that her father was a great Julian pirate. After epically failing a graduation ritual common of the Sa'aljan culture, she decided to follow in (what she's certain to be) her father's footsteps and stows herself away on a cargo ship to arrive in one of the many, wondrous Julian cities. Dressing to fit in, she immediately refers to herself by her new handle, Lark, and upon completing her first, semi successful, small scale heist, concludes that she will probably, most definitely need to recruit some men. Real, Julian men! Which leads her to one of the small, shabby taverns in the city.
She's the 'captain' of the tiny crew, and is assumed to be batshit crazy by her two crew mates. It's not uncommon for her to go into heists, guns blazing, not properly prepared, wearing the most impractical outfits which rarely fail to effectively hinder her performance. But dammit, she looks good. And somehow, the job always gets done--most of the time...kind of.

Starling (left): Another old character I've resurrected for this project... [link] herpderp...

Theodore Sterling was a Julian commoner who, while being very outgoing and amicable, tended to mind his own business outside of work hours. He worked construction, and it was common practice that after work, he and his good friend/workmate/roommate would retire to the bar for some drinks and idle chat. He was doing exactly that when some crazy bitch barged into the place and started a massive, drunken brawl, promising the last man standing that he'd be recruited to 'work' with her. He and his friend, in a display of zero interest towards shady propositions, quite purposefully stuck to chatting over the loud noise of men beating each other to pulps.
To both their dismay, when the brawl was over, they where the last two men standing... "Or rather," as Sterling corrected, "sitting."
The name Lark assigned to him was not a very wide deviation, Starling. Which he, despite his circumstances, didn't much mind. In the trio, he's the voice of reason, and while he's not particularly well educated, he's probably moreso than his two other crew members.

Wren (right): FIRST DRAWING OF HIM EVARLOL. When I was younger, I was incapable of beef.

Peter Wrenfield, like his good friend/workmate/roommate, Starling, was a Julian commoner who worked construction. Well mannered, with the patience of a god, he was always relatively soft spoken, and rarely initiated conversation himself. He also held true to the rules of being a real gentleman.
It was he who Starling was conversing with in the bar when Lark barged in with her dodgy proposition. Being even less intrigued than Starling, the two simply continued to discuss how psychotic Starling thought Wrenfield's girlfriend was. Wrenfield, of course, defended his lady love, and assured that this was "just a phase" and that she'd be over it in no time.
After accidentally winning the fight he and Starling never actually took part in--and declining Lark's offer to join her crew, the two men headed home. Unfortunately, by the time they got there, home was nothing more than a crater in the ground, and Wrenfield's crazy ass girlfriend was to blame.
Reluctantly, with no place else to go, and very angry neighbors ensuring they don't linger, He and Starling crawl back to Lark, and with no real choice, they allow her to successfully recruit them.
Lark immediately shortens Wrenfield's name to simply 'Wren'. Wren, less than happy to have his name shortened in such a manner protests, but is simply told to "deal with it."
Lark, herself, works to turn Wren into a terrifying, mean, uncouth bear of a man--so far, with no results to show for it. In the meantime, he works more effectively as her portable, gigantic backpack--storing mostly weapons and useful gadgetry in his huge, draping overcoat.

Ahahah I'm playing an RPG that has damn near this same incident. Only she ends up joining your party to get stronger so she can get revenge on someone.
