Description Closeup shot

I've decorated this blank journal with polymer clay, pearls, iridescent glass gems, crystal droplets, metal starfish and seahorse, acrylic paint and PearlEx powdered pigments. The border was hand-painted with gold leaf pen.

It was so hard to capture a good photo of the shimmery PearlEx and touches of gold and silver. I think this is one that you will say "Oh Wow!" if you were holding it in your hands. The iridescence in the crystal droplets and the gems changes depending on how the light hits them also.

This spiral bound journal has 100 lined pages and is signed on the back by me. It measures 5.5" x 8.5"

umm.. it's me again and i have another question... umm.. can i also use poster paint for polymer clay or only acrylic paint should be use for clay..? thanks

Doesn't poster paint dry a bit crumbly and chalk-like? It has been too long since I have used them. You can use acrylic paint and alcohol ink on and in polymer clay but other paints may have ingredients that react with the clay and cause it to get sticky and gooey.
I would make a small test square and try your paint on it.

thank you so much. i bought poster paint and tried it.. not yet dry right now.. but i did some research (w/c i should have done earlier before buying poster paint) and it says that poster paints is water soluable so even if it dries it would still be ruined.. so acrylic paint it is. hehe. thanks for always answer my questions! God bless you more

Thanks! This one was fun to do and the PearlEx powdered pigments really made the blue shimmer like water.

NyaahNatrix [2009-07-30 19:39:53 +0000 UTC]

can you actually put all the perls, metal- and glass stuff with the clay into the oven? or do you glue them on afterwards?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MandarinMoon In reply to NyaahNatrix [2009-07-30 19:45:51 +0000 UTC]

They are pressed into the clay and baked in place. The glass gems just pop right off the cured clay and then I glue them back into their indentation. The seahorse and starfish stuck tight and I didn't have to re-attach them.

Now that is gorgeous.

I checked out your etsy shop for the other close-up shots of the book. I'm surprised you were able to make a simple black cachet look so fabulous! It's jaw-dropping how lovely the colors come together with the silver and metal pieces. Wonderful work!
