A Nighttime Chat

Mandymiriana
The white litten is the first to catch her eye. He’s sitting by himself at the base of a tree, minding his own business. She hopes that he doesn’t mind having a quick chat.
“Hello there, mind if I join you?”

Rai wasn't expecting a company, at least, not around this time. He didn't say anything in reply but he made room for the Mimikyu to sit with. Not much of a talker.

The litten didn’t respond, but he did offer her a seat, which was a start. She moved next to him. A minute or so went by without either of them speaking. She started to fidget slightly. Should she say something or wait for him to speak? A few moments later she couldn’t bear it any longer. This silence was uncomfortable, but she didn’t want to leave without getting something out of this encounter! She was determined to give it one more shot. “Do you have a favorite berry?”

The litten murred from the break of silence. He was probably lost in his own thought, but whatever, a small talk wouldn't hurt. "... most likely Wiki or Razz berry. They're good for my fire they said." A low, tired tone spoke out of the Litten's mouth. Let's hope you have good ears.

She perked up upon hearing him speak. It was a bit hard to catch, but she did manage to hear that he liked Razz berries. What a coincidence! “Oh, me too! Dry berries are my favorite. In fact, I found some recently when I went foraging. Would you like one?” she said, offering him a freshly plucked Razz berry.

He turned to the berry, his purple eyes shimmering as he stared. He then gently took the berry from Cecily's.. hand? "Thanks... I guess." He said before taking the berry and nibbling it.

Cecily smiled as she took out another berry. Nothing like good food to break the ice! She should’ve done this from the beginning. It was quiet again as they finished their berries, but this time it felt more like companionable silence compared to the one from earlier.

"... Why me out of all the others?" He spoke. "There's other mons you'd have more fun hanging out with... what made you choose me instead?" He asked the Mimikyu. The tone showed he didn't get that many people coming to him. Couldn't blame them, he looked intimidating.

She played with her ribbon, twirling with the strands. “You...remind me of a friend,” she began. “He was by himself a lot and it looked like he was waiting for something, or someone? And when I finally gathered the courage to talk to him, I got the feeling that he just wanted some company.” She trailed off, turning to him, hands waving frantically. “I-! Um! I didn’t mean to project or anything, like you are you’re own mon, of course, but uh, I’m really sorry I didn’t really think before I spoke so that might have been really inconsiderate, and um-“

He let out one short chuckle. "It's fine... surprising, actually." He turned to the sky. "Being compared to isn't something I'd be mad about. If anything, I'd be fascinated that there's someone else like me."

He smiled! Her expression didn’t change but inwardly she was celebrating. The outburst came out of nowhere and was super embarrassing to have in front of someone she just met, but it was worth it! “I could see you two getting along! He’s a little rough around the edges, but he has a kind heart, like you!”

His eyes glanced at her. They gleamed a little. "Can't wait to meet him, I guess..." His eyes returned to the sky.

Cecily’s eyes twinkled. This was good, this was really good! But this also felt like a safe place to stop. “Maybe one day,” she said. “Anyways, I should get going, but I enjoyed talking to you!” she said with a wave. “Oh wait! I never gave you my name, or got yours! I’m Cecily, what’s your name?”

"... Rai. Call me Rai." He nodded at her. His gaze appeared unchanging but behind the burnt red scarf of his, there's definitely a pleasant smile. He didn't say it, but he appreciated her company.

“Rai. I’ll remember that! See you around, Rai!” She waved at him and shuffled off.
