Description
The assignment for my Survey of Illustration class. We had to pick one of the seven deadly sins, and illustrate it. The style had to be highly rendered for the figure, and to stay away from the cliches: Lust-sex, Greed- money, Gluttony-Food etc.So I chose the concept of drug addiction, and the colors are the representation of the hallucinations. Yes it's beautiful and whatnot, and the mushrooms, being the drug, but also a symbol for decay.

Reminds me of Neil Gaiman's Delirium... Definitely the feeling of "decay in decadence". Well. Delirium's not really 'decadent'... that's the wrong word... glorious decay, sort of, but not glorious because it's so pathetic, maybe even tragic, throwing yourself into the fire, letting yourself crumble away without a word or an effort to stop it because you're so far gone.

Thank you so much. I was trying to go for the feeling of a temporary ethereal mood. There were these still lifes a few hundred years ago, that were called "vanitas" It was supposed to show the beauty, but the temporary feeling, and how it is ruined and destroyed, how everything can rot and decay.
