New picture, this time for the Ghosts of the past contest being held by . This one is open to interpretation, i actually view it in many different ways:

1.- Possibly the most literal way to view this is that Zabuza was one of the first characters to ever get killed in the Naruto series therefor making him a literal ghost of the past.

2.- We all know Zabuza grew up during the times when his country was known as the Bloody Hidden mist and that to become ninja, the kids had to battle each other to the death giving Zabuza the nickname of Devil Zabuza because of all the people he managed to kill. With this picture i have tried to convey the message of the weight those deaths bare on him even if he doesn't show it, always carrying those lost souls on his back for the rest of his life. We clearly saw Haku's death affected him so why wouldn't his fellow classmates death not? Maybe him not caring and actually enjoy killing was just a facade to keep himself sane.

3.- And last but not least, Zabuza walking away into the light, leaving behind a life of pain and bloodshed. *Spoiler alert* When resurrected in the manga, Zabuza makes a point of displaying his disagreement with being brought back to life. No dead soul should be brought back from the dead. Zabuza sacrificed himself after Naruto confronted him about Haku and showed his true feelings giving us the understanding that he wanted to wipe his hands clean. Maybe with his own death he believed he had freed his tortured soul and found peace.
