If you've been wondering why I haven't been updating Future Reunion lately, this is partly why.I recently got bitten by the paper craft bug again, and Sailor Cosmos is one of the most beautiful senshi, so I decided to make a piece featuring her. Putting this piece together was quite challenging in some parts, such as figuring out the order in which to layer certain pieces of paper, how to construct her staff (it's made from a shaved down bamboo skewer, card stock, decorative gems, and two different types of glue if you're wondering), etc. It got a bit frustrating and exhausting towards the end, but it's now done!

From start to finish, about three weeks. But it was on and off because I started the project right before I had friends and family pass through town and the pace of the project was interrupted. Plus, I only have the time to work on it in the evening and weekends so it's hard for me to calculate how many hours it actually took me.

This is absolutely gorgeous; the layering is fantastic, and how you've cut out the shapes is incredible, they're so perfectly shaped!

I actually used some very pointy craft scissors to cut them out. And I get the layers to line up by using a template and tracing the pattern through using a light box. The downside to this is that it doesn't work well on dark paper which are completely opaque.

Yup, it's made from a skewer all right! I wanted to use paper, but couldn't find anything stiff enough that I could also easily cut, and a shaved down bamboo skewer works great.

I think Cosmos could almost be anyone you want her to be, since her origins are such a mystery. And while I don't think she's Chibi Usa's daughter (in the manga Chibi Usa herself said that Chibi Chibi isn't her daughter), my head!canon is that they're still related somehow.

It's beautiful @,@ Honestly, I cried when I first read the manga when she was finally explained. How are you such a great artist? I practice day in and day out, took every art class there was in high school and I still can't do anything even remotely close to this. In fact, my fan art always looks clumsy, flat and disproportionate.Β
