Description Annnnnd now we wait to see if the wordplay sailed over everybody's heads.

Here ya go, just as promised! I really want to submit this to the official fanart forum, but I have to wait until they call the right prompt if I want to turn this in. So now we wait!.... yeah...

This is by far my favorite character design in the series, and I really hope my work does Monty's show justice. R.I.P. Your show is in good hands!

Hey I like the drawing and colouring!

There are a few things that I think could be improved.

The first thing I noticed was that the shadow isn't really behaving like a shadow. The edges are too crisp, especially with the outline. Shadows tend to be fuzzier near the edges, and depending on the light source and object, can also vary in darkness.
The shadow is too light which implies more diffuse lighting which would also make the shadow really fuzzy.

Also, as tempting as it is to just copy the figure and use that for the shadow, you do need to tweak it more to behave like a shadow. I think if you removed the lines from the shadow and blurred the edges, it would help a bit, but it also needs to be a bit darker too.

The details on the umbrella are lovely, but it is somewhat difficult to properly see the edge of the umbrella that goes through the middle part. That would be a good place to give a line to noticeably separate the edge and the inside of the umbrella, because the contrast isn't enough, and the umbrella sorta merges with itself and looks kinda weird. While that might not necessarily be realistic, sometimes it's better to emphasize certain parts so that the viewer can better understand the picture.

As for the reception on reddit, I think it might have to do with the face. I feel the face is just a bit squished, so that she looks a bit like a dwarf. It might be due to the wide jawline which sort of gives her a wide round jaw look.
What I might do is to reduce the level of curving on the jaw line, so that it's straighter as it goes to her ear. I would also shift the eyes up a bit so her face is a little more spread out vertically.

Sorry if this all sounded really harsh or mean, but I wanted to give some pointers, since you asked for a critique. Overall I liked the piece! I'd love to be able to colour like you can!

I appreciate the constructive criticism, but the shadow wasn't necessarily intended to be a "shadow" if that makes any sense. Whenever I do pieces of this style, the crisp shadow with the fringe effect is simply a style choice and wasn't necessarily meant to add an element of realism. As for the jawline, while I will be sure to keep that in mind for future pieces, as I have received comments on the jawline in earlier works. For this piece however, especially since this is an exceptionally short character, I felt that a squashed face fit well. You said that you hoped you weren't sounding too mean, now I'm saying that really I hope I don't sound too argumentative. I really do appreciate the criticism and I can imagine others commenting about the jawline, so will I say you have a good eye for proportions and keep up the honest critiques!
