Description
This Coupe was the sports car of the 1950s and the starting point of decades of SL tradition. This car was developed as the first thoroughbred sports car post the Second World War.It was triggered by spectacular successes of the 300 SL racing car in such tracks as Le Mans, the Nuerburgring and the 3rd edition of the Carrera Panamericana, Mexico.
Its admirers coined such popular epithets as Fluegeltuerer in German, the Gullwing in English and Papillon in French.
