From in the time of Dragons

Looking at the cherry tree, Kiala couldn't help but think that it looked so barren without any buds or leaves yet, and it was somewhat depressing. Just like everything else in the village, it was familiar, and she remembered how happy everything was supposed to be, but now, it simply didn't look like that at all. It was strange and depressing... nothing like what her memories saw. Thinking about how things had all changed over the years, she took a deep sigh and looked down, telling herself that it was all in her head, but as she did this, she felt arms wrap around her.

At first she thought it was Koji... or maybe Tomiji... someone trying to comfort her, but the voice that came to her ear was not that of either. IT was that same familiar voice she had been hearing crystal clear in her head all this time, and for a moment she thought she was imagining things, but no... this time it was real.

"I thought you would be happier if I was gone." She heard him whisper. Her heart started to pound, it was Ryu. Real, and in person. After she had given up hope of ever seeing him again, here he was, speaking to her. "I thought you were too pure for someone like me." He said quietly.

Tears started to form in her eyes, and at first, she was startled. She had been keeping them back all this time, she had thought that she had no more tears to shed, but here they were. She tasted the salt and smiled... it was all real. Joy filled her up at the thought of it, and her tears came more quickly.

"I'm so sorry." He said, and she felt his head touching hers. He thought she was sad; that their meeting was breaking her heart. "Please, don't cry..."

Turning to look at him, her smile grew bigger. He was exactly as she remembered him, tired looking, but still the same. Her hand reached up to touch his cheek, and she started to laugh, tears still falling. He looked so worried, and it made her want to comfort him, but her tears wouldn't' stop, so she did the only thing she could think to do, the only thing that she really wanted to do all this time.

She pressed her lips to his, and throwing her arms around his neck, kissed him deeply.
