getting real sick of some SU fans being nasty to some artists (ive had one of them knocking of my art today)

i think the way you have drawn her is very cute, it gets to the point of who she is and tbh you havent slimmed her down at all trust me.

keep drawing and you shall be amazing~! every piece is a step forward to a better piece!~

Thank you so much, this really means a lot to me. I didn't try to slim her down I'm just not that good with body proportions, and hearing this really brightened my day ^^

I understand your point of view, but I do not think the artist was trying to convey your "fatphobic" claims. View her other artwork. A lot of her characters aren't super thin like this one, and I think that removing an art piece from the gallery because an artist drew an existing character in a different style is rather shallow. Of course you have rules of the group, but I don't think it is right to assume the artist wanted to place a negative self-image vibe to larger people because I assure you that is not what she was going for.

The only reason I am liable to say that is because I know the artist personally. She is not like that in any regard, and if you did like I had said and viewed her other artwork you would get a glimpse of that. In all honesty I cannot speak for every artist who does this because they just might be doing as you say. I just wanted to let you know that not ALL artists are trying to portray her as thin for "fatphobia". My friend has plenty of different ways of doodling, and if she draws Amethyst once in this style then so be it. She has said to me before that she loves how Steven Universe has characters with different body types i.e. thin(Pearl), wide(Amethyst), and curvy(Garnet) and I agree with her. There is a difference between slimming down a character because you have "fatphobia" and slimming down a character because you are trying out different ways of drawing. I assume you have not looked at my friend's other artwork, and I would really advise that you do if you truly believe she is trying to degrade larger characters. She draws both thin and "curvy" characters. In addition to that, my art professor had told the class that it is actually harder to draw wider figures. He said in figure drawing that it is great practice to draw many types of bodies. With that said, perhaps some artists don't like the way their art looks when they draw a character a certain way. Truthfully it is just fan art, and that won't affect the real character Amethyst. I would just focus on enjoying how the show ACTUALLY is rather than focusing on drawings that aren't even airing on TV.

People literally can get offended by anything, especially on the internet. Additionally, like I had said, my professor said it is harder to draw larger figures. This is why people study different figures when you take figure drawing classes. Because it is easier to draw and animate thinner characters are often used. Do I think this is unfortunate? HIGHLY. Same thing goes for characters with curly hair or freckles. Curly hair is extremely time consuming to animate which is why we don't see a lot of it being done. Props to the animators for Merida who has curly hair from the movie Brave. My friend does draw many body types, but as you can see she does draw, like I said thin AND curvy characters. What you do not know is that she DOES try to draw wider figures. They are in her sketchbooks. You don't have to post every single drawing you do. I know I don't. Maybe once she masters even wider characters, she may post them. Like you said, practice makes perfect.

Different body types means exactly as it is. Different=various. She has various body types. The increased hips is her preferred style of drawing. Every artist has a style of drawing, whether they try to copy someone else's style or have their own. If you like drawing in a certain way, why is it okay for someone else to tell them to stop drawing in that particular way? Art is an expression, and art is free. Therefore it has no rules. Everyone has the right to create artwork as they please.
