Had fun doing this.From better times when vampires were vampires and not sparkling pedophiles, 50% victim of the circunstances, 50%
pawn to greater powers, 100% badass.
Raziel, Soulreaver.
This was an excercise of relaxation and i wanted to do another fanart of this dude for ages now; the original one being [link] (old and ugly, i know) hope you like it.

Often when an Iris is added to a character's eye where there wasn't one, it doesn't look right. This? This looks terrifying and amazing. Well bloody done man!

A very sinister looking raziel, I like the colors and glowing effects.

This is an amazing take on Raziel; the textures used for his hair and skin, and the sickly green glow as he's eating... it's the right combination of horror and creeping dread that the game gives.

i wish squaresoft would revive Vagrant Story.

Yeah, Vagrant Story was awesome, too... but I wish Squaresoft would be revived... since the fusion of Squaresoft and Enix, they've messed up quite a lot...
Anyways, I'm asking because I'm currently working on a huge Final Fantasy game project and I want to include Final Fantasy VIII's Β»Triple TriadΒ« as a mini game. While I'm creating a lot of the illustrations myself, I'm also asking talented deviants and some have already agreed.
Unfortunately I can't offer any payment right now but I will give proper credit on the cards, in the game and here on deviantART.
Looking at your amazing art, it would be really awesome to have you contributing. And the cool thing is, that the game is gonna cover the whole series, so you'd have lots of monsters, bosses, summons and characters to choose from, even out of the PSX games you so loved. That said, some of the characters and summons from Final Fantasy VII, VIII and IX are already reserved or even finished but there's still plenty left.
You can check out my gallery for finished cards, a conceptual game board and booster packs if I've piqued your interest. The conditions that you'd have to fulfill are in the game screen's description and there are already a few cards in my gallery that feature artwork from other deviants.
Let me knwo, if you're in and you'll also get an invite into our group, so you can check out what motives are already reserved to other deviants. ^^

a vampire is a corpse reanimated, an undead, technically a zombie.
I still dont get how can there be people playing games that never heard of LoK nor soul reaver, after all the awful remakes of old games, is mind blowing that no one tried to bring this back.

ah well, technically, yes, but Raziel will stay a vampire to me. A zombie is a creature without an own free will - huh, maybe except the one for brains. Vampires and zombies are both undead creatures, but they aren't the same. I mean, look at the way they are...'born' I guess.
Oh I know what you mean. They really should do a remake of LoK, although I'm afraid they would do cuts to the Story and would push up the graphics. Ecspecially Soul Reaver would loose much of it's charming atmosphere. Well, we can't have everything.

I like how you managed to make his hands work. You kept the talons but added flesh in between the claw and the hand itself.

This picture is...gripping.
The color that Raziels eye is glowing with adds an flavor of tension.
Over all its very well done and Raziel taking of his cowl combined with the lighting of the background and the glow coming from what remains of his mouth gives it an certain element of horror.
I also agree with you on the better times thing, those pseudo vampires ruined the real deal, it just sad.

it is, but as with all of our atavic fears, vampires will regain their former glory at some point, what they represent, the fear of death and the hope of transcendance are deeply carved into the human soul.
im just disgusted at the current state of the myth.
