Yes,either use texture brushes set on overlay mode or import texture photos in or composition and set the layer on overlay as well.

I used both.I painted the metal parts with a chalk brush,then applied overlay layers on it and used grunge brushes and in the end applied final texture photos set to overlay mode.

Yes,I have been using Corel Painter X for quite a long time now!But I still find photoshop more vast and with lots of options and applications that Corel lacks.My main complain about Corel products is that they have lots of bugs and are very unstable to work with.
