Description
It was quite windy that day. The breeze rushed through the grassy plains that were overlooked by a mountain range from afar. Clouds were traveling westbound at a fast pace, their shadows dappled the land below. It was a nice day to be outside-- perfect weather for lounging about… At least, that’s what Sunleth thought as she laid in the grass lazily.
Yes, she was a master at doing absolutely nothing but sunbathe and daydream on days like this. Sunny would roll over and whine about being hungry or thirsty, but at the same time be too lazy to do anything about it. She loved being out in the open like this more than anything. The sense of freedom just isn’t the same at home.
Her ear pricked up when she heard what sounded like a soft thundering of something pounding the ground from afar, steadily getting closer to her.
Hmm? What’s making all that noise? She thought to herself. Ugh, I don’t feel like getting up to see what it is. Guess I’ll ignore it. Her ear relaxed as she closed her eyes and continued to daydream.
The noise grew louder and suddenly stopped.
“THERE you are!” A tired, disgruntled voice spoke.
Sunny quickly lifted her head up to see who it was, realized who it was, and groaned as she set her head back down. “Ughhh, can I pleeeaaase relax in peace for once, Kyungiii?”
“Hey I’m just tryina get you back home and finish this Rite of Knowledge, so if you could make my life easier that would be great… And why you gotta say my name like that? Girl you don’t even know me, mh!” Kyung shook his head in disapproval.
Sunleth looked up at him once more, this time with a really disgusted look while her tongue sticking out. “Bleh! You ain’t even got them Air Jordans. Bye boy!” She promptly rolled over and whipped her tail to the ground in one solid motion.
“...What? Are you talking about…??” He looked at her baffled, his brows scrunching down to his eyes. He shook his head again, ears folded back, and positioned himself in a crouch, ready to lunge at her--
She bolted. It was so sudden that he just stood there for a good few seconds before realizing she left. He let out a short growl and proceeded to chase her at full speed. “Come on girl quit playin’!”
“Nah!” She stuck her tongue out and laughed as she ran from him. “And ya look dusty!”
"OOOH you sho right!" He barked at her.
He was very close on her tail, but too far to take down. Kyung chased her for what felt like a mile or two until she stopped running and fell the the ground. He caught up with her shortly after, and stood in front of her panting heavily.
“Can we please… huff… get you back… home…??”
“I’m… too tired… WHY DID YOU CHASE ME THIS FAR?!” She let out a very tired bark. “If you really... want to bring me home… you gotta… huff... carry me!”
Kyung looked at her with a very irritated look, still catching his breath. “...GIRL. Are you fu-- You know what? Fine. I'mma carry you all the way back home if I have to. And if you try to run away, I’ll take you down and DRAG your sorry ass the whole way back since you wanna make my life so difficult. WHAT'S UP.” He stood in front of her with an intimidating stance.
“OKAY, okay, you win. Let me catch my breath first, just give me a minute to chill out.”
He nods his head and lays upright on his side. They were both quiet for a little while until Kyung started talking. “So… why are you even out here? Like what’s so great that you put up a fight about leaving?”
She looked at him, a little surprised. “I just like it out here more than being anywhere else. It’s quiet, it’s peaceful, and nobody bothers me. For the most part.” She shot a quick glare at him.
“...I don’t know, there’s just something about this place that puts me at ease. It’s my favorite place.” She let out a small smile while staring at the scenery.
“Hmm… I think I get what you mean.” Kyung turned his head as he looked around him. “It is pretty nice out here today. And the weather’s great with this breeze.” His eyes closed as he took a deep breath. “The air is nice and crisp here, too. This really is a good spot to chill!” He looked at her and noticed she had her eyes closed with a soft smile. She really did love being here.
After a while, he finally got up and shook the dirt off himself, “Okay, well, if you’re good then I’m ready to head back.”
Sunny let out a huge sigh. “Okaaay,” she slowly stood up and sulked, “guess it’s time to go...” She suddenly jumped on his back and barked, “Eee-haw ee-haw! Giddyap!”
“NOPE.” Kyung barked and immediately sat down, letting Sunleth fall to the ground. “I know you are NOT about to break my back by jumping on me like that.” A low, short growl rumbled from his throat.
“Fiiiine, I’ll be nice this time Kyungi-ah.” She teased. “I don’t want my only ride to break!”
"Sunny, for real though. If you keep doing me like this, I got you." He crouched to let her on properly.
She shrugged and let out a short nervous laugh as she climbed onto Kyung's back. She knew he was not playing when he said that. Ohh, he knew what things annoyed the heck out of her. He was good at getting back at her.
When she settled, a grunt escaped him as he stood up and started to walk. Home's about 3 miles away from here, so this could take a while. On the plus side, Kyung could use the endurance training!
