Description Elayne Trakand, Daughter-Heir of Andor, from the late Robert Jordan's amazing Wheel of Time series.

These are a couple of sketches that I ended up spending a bit more time on than planned. I figured out it was about time I tried to paint one of the girls from the series, and I actually managed to get very close to my vision of her (after lots of failing). I hope to get around making more of those WoT character sketches, seeing as it helps me visualize the characters while reading

Not a fan of Elayne, but this art is just beautiful. Got the perfect blend of regal, serene and beautiful. Also similar to how I pictured her, but with a slightly different colouring. Most seem to make her seem really old or odd looking in some way.

Thank you, I am very glad to hear you like my vision of her I've always imagined her and most of the other main characters to be quite young, though they tend to grow a bit older from all their experiences as time progresses in the books.

This is beautiful! My only qualm is her hair is supposed to be "red-gold" (strawberry blonde). I really like the emotion you managed to capture, strong but vulnerable.

This is one of the best Elayne renditions I've seen. Why does it seem like people have such a hard time drawing one of the most beautiful women in the books?

Wow, that's quite a compliment, so thank you very much! Something I found a bit hard with Elayne, was to make it look like my vision of her personality, instead of just another pretty face. I guess I've still got a bit to work on in that regard

So how would you describe her personality, personally? I've found it interesting how many fans *dislike* Elayne for her penchant for running head-first into danger, but she's one of my favorite characters.

Hmmm, now that's a difficult question. Personally, I like her very much. She is strong and independent, like many of the women in WoT, though I guess she can easily be seen as arrogant. But I don't think the arrogance is a result of her personality - instead, I think it's more because she finds all of Andor and its inhabitants important, and she knows it's her responsibility to make sure everything runs smoothly. So it’s not the person Elayne who is arrogant, it is the queen. I think Elayne herself is a really caring person that you can trust, and I also like the fact that she’s clever and hardworking

Beautiful and very Elayne-like. Like many others I like her looking down her nose like a real queen. And thou this doesn't perfectly fit how I imagine her, I think the technique is excellent and the faces look very realistic, besides she's very beautiful. And the hair. <3 Also the colours are lovely soft, not in high contrast.
But I think her neck is too long in the right side, and the dress seems little unfinished. It doesn't bother too much, because in general this isn't very detailed etc. but considering how well you've done her face, it does seem a bit... odd.

I think I overemphasized Elayne being a tall girl, and her whole "looking down the nose" pose. I'm very glad you told me your opinion

Thank you! I added a simple texture layer on top of it, so I guess that's what makes it look less digital

Thank you! I have made a couple of paintings of Rand, Mat and Perrin, as well as an old one of Moiraine and Lan. I plan on making Egwene and Nynaeve soon
