Description This was inspired by a scene from the TV show "How the Universe Works" on the Discovery channel. It is now one of my favorite shows, not just because of the awesome graphics but like Phil Plait from Bad Astronomy said "The writing is engaging, and Mike Rowe is a terrific narrator". Made in Cinema 4d with touch ups in Photoshop.

wow, this is such an impressing work most of all I like the tiny lights on the big planet. this looks so realistic, although I don't know how this scene should look like in reality

Nice! My only problem is it looks like the moon's facing the wrong way. The maria (dark blotches) should be on the other side, facing Earth.

This scene is amazing, love the details of the lighting and everything.

Also, what is this. Mike Rowe narrates How the Universe Works? Now I want to go watch that show. I always loved watching the shows he hosted.

This is a beautiful piece. It reminds me of the opening to 2001: a Space Odyssey (one of the best films ever made)--you know, where it shows the line up of the planets and the sun rising. I can almost hear "Also sprach Zarathustra".

did you do the "sun" in photoshop? or in cinema? and what light settings did you use?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

manwesulemo In reply to Alioli1 [2010-12-16 19:28:24 +0000 UTC]

The sun was made in Photoshop with about five different layers, I only used one infinite light and GI with low settings.
